With Final Fantasy 7 turning 25 this year, Square Enix gave fans updates on a couple of related projects that will be connected to the series. This includes the highly anticipated Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2, along with a couple of spin-offs like Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis. Even Square Enix's mobile battle royale prequel, Final Fantasy 7: The First Soldier, got a spotlight during the series' anniversary event. This event revealed that the game will be receiving a couple of new things for fans to try in its third season of content.

Final Fantasy 7: The First Soldier has seen periodic updates ever since it was released, with a lot of its new content being cosmetics and weapons. This includes costumes based on other Final Fantasy 7 spin-offs like Crisis Core to seasonal events for The First Soldier based on holidays like Easter. The game will be continuing to get support in its third season named Highway Star, which will add a new map, weapon, and more.

This new trailer for Final Fantasy 7: The First Soldier showed off a new map known as Midgar Plateside, which contains a notable amount of landmarks in the city. This includes the Mako Reactor Core 1, the highway, as well as Sector 8. The game will also receive a new long-ranged weapon known as the Serpent Launcher which is a rocket launcher and the Dual Wheeler which is a magic assault rifle. Players can also command the power of water using a new materia that will be introduced to the game.

Alongside these additions, The First Soldier will be getting a new Style class, known as Machinist. Players who choose this class will utilize a giant hammer weapon, which places an emphasis on heavy strikes. They will also get access to a new gadget that can carry them through the air like a hoverboard, where it can also fire missiles. A few items will also be added that can affect the minute aspects of the gameplay such as the Ifrit Belt and Drain Belt, which can either increase a player's power or restore their health.

This new season for The First Soldier will also give players a new season pass that can give fans a series of new cosmetics. This includes exclusive skins, emotes, and more. Some of these costumes give players appearances based on various aspects of Final Fantasy 7's mythos, such as a mechanical chocobo, the eldritch Jenova, or the Whispers. This season pass will be available until August 31, giving players plenty of time to try the newest additions.
