With how numerous the Final Fantasy games are, and the huge array of iconic characters littered throughout the franchise, it's unsurprising that there are always new high quality cosplays being performed by fans of the series. Certain games and characters are generally better represented by cosplayers, with Final Fantasy 7 and usually getting the most love. Luckily, for fans of the pre-3D generation of games, one cosplayer has taken it upon herself to portray Terra Branford from Final Fantasy 6, in a highly detailed cosplay.

Final Fantasy 6 sits in an awkward place for Western audiences, as even its title is a point of dispute. As Final Fantasy 2, 3 and were not released outside of Japan at the time of Final Fantasy 6's release, the game was actually considered to be the third release in the franchise, and is often called Final Fantasy 3 by fans to this day. Despite the confusion surrounding the game, it is often considered to be one of the best in the series, with fans of the Super Nintendo era excitedly awaiting the Pixel Remasters of Final Fantasy 5 and 6.

In an ode to Final Fantasy 6, Datura_Cereus has posted their highly detailed interpretation of Terra Branford to Twitter, capturing the Final Fantasy character's colorful design with impressive attention to detail. The costume design is spot-on, with Terra's flowery tights and pale red top present, as well as her ornamental beads and long blade. Datura seems to have made some artistic departures from the original design, with a cyan tone to her hair instead of the deep green of the original and slightly different shoes, making the cosplay her own.

Not only is Datura's cosplay impressive in its own right, but it is amplified by the photography, performed by her husband. The lighting and color contrast helps to bring the cosplay to life, and Datura's pose helps to capture the fear and concern that Terra often feels over her powers throughout Final Fantasy 6. The game's story is certainly one of the main reasons why fans love Final Fantasy 6, and with the Pixel Remake of Final Fantasy 6 arriving some time in late 2021, fans of the game are waiting to see how faithful it will remain to the original, especially now that the much maligned remake of Final Fantasy 6 has been removed from Steam.

Expectations are high for the Pixel Remasters of Final Fantasy 5 and 6, as the remasters of the first three games have been met with mostly favorable reviews, and fans are hopeful that the trend will continue. With the rerelease of the original games, there will likely be an explosion of fan-created content to look forward to as well. The franchise's fanbase has always proven itself to be talented, with one person even managing to custom build a set of custom action figures for Final Fantasy 6, and a constant stream of unique cosplays being performed by creative gamers like Datura.

Final Fantasy 5 and 6 Pixel Remaster will release later this year on PC and mobile devices.
