Square Enix announces at the Final Fantasy 15 Uncovered presentation that a new demo is available tonight called Final Fantasy 15 Platinum Demo, and it is entirely free.

In what could only be described as one of the most exciting events of the gaming year thus far, Square Enix continuously shocked the world with announcement after announcement regarding the long-awaited Final Fantasy XV game. While some news was leaked ahead of time, there were some bombshell reveals that were not, and one of the biggest pieces of news emerging from the Final Fantasy XV Uncovered presentation is the existence of another demo along the same lines of Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae.

Unlike the previous Final Fantasy XV demo, however, fans won't have to purchase or pre-order anything in order to gain access to the Final Fantasy XV Platinum Demo. The newly unveiled Final Fantasy XV Platinum Demo will be available for free, and Square Enix announced that it will be available on both the PS4 and Xbox One tonight.

While not much is known about the demo outside of what was shown during the presentation, the information that has already been revealed seems to indicate a demo that offers much more variety than Duscae previously did. According to the presenters, Platinum Demo will function like a mixture between a tech and a gameplay demo. It will take turns equally showing off some of the game's graphical prowess in the form of different kinds of weather and environmental setting or the game's combat, which will include a hands-on demo of the magic system in Final Fantasy XV for the first time.

Unfortunately for the presentation, the biggest announcement regarding Final Fantasy XV wasn't kept a secret until the finale. News leaked earlier today that Final Fantasy XV would release on September 30, 2016 after a mysterious trailer was uploaded detailing a young Noctis exploring his own dream world. As it turns out, that trailer was for Final Fantasy XV Platinum Demo, which will let gamers take on the role of young Noctis as he explores both his dreams and nightmares.

It has been a big day for Final Fantasy XV, and if there wasn't a lot of industry buzz surrounding it before (there was), there certainly is now (even moreso). Gamers eager to get their hands on the title will have to wait a few more months, but Platinum Demo will make for a nice taste of what's to come for a Final Fantasy XV game that is ambitious in both its scope and in the innovations it brings to the franchise.

What do you think about Final Fantasy XV Platinum Demo being made free for everyone and getting released tonight? Has Square Enix shaken up the usual Final Fantasy formula enough to make you pay attention to the newest game? Let us know in the comments below.

Final Fantasy XV will release worldwide on September 30, 2016 for the PS4 and Xbox One. Final Fantasy XV Platinum Demo is available now for the PS4 and Xbox One as well.
