Three years after its initial launch in 2016, Final Fantasy 15 refuses to fade into obscurity as all great games eventually do, with development currently underway for a brand new experience within the familiar world. The new Final Fantasy 15 spin-off/expansion comes in the form of an MMORPG that will be playable on Mobile, with a release date and title that have yet to be revealed.

This isn't the first time that Final Fantasy 15 has taken its universe to mobile, with both a fairly underwhelming Freemium tie-in game and the much more successful Final Fantasy 15: Pocket Edition. However, this may be the first game of this scale for Square Enix to release on mobile, considering that the developers claim to want to bring the high-speed, flashy action of the base game to the new title.

At the moment, little information is fully known about the new Final Fantasy 15 MMORPG, aside from the fact that it is powered by the Unreal Engine and that it will be a Mobile exclusive at launch. The initial announcement did also state that the game will take place just after Noctis leaves on his adventure, not unlike the multiplayer Comrades expansion that was added to the base game shortly after launch before becoming its own separate release. Additionally, the new game will take players to brand new locations apart from the areas available in the base game.

Square Enix won't be directly developing the game, instead simply publishing the new title, with JSC Games and GAEA Mobile heading development. Shanghai Oriental Pearl Group is also involved in the game, and likely due to their involvement, as well as GAEA Mobile, the new title is reported to have an initial release in China before moving worldwide. With the developers over at Square Enix busy working on the new Final Fantasy 7 Remake, it's hardly a surprise that the company would hand this project out to an outside studio, especially to some that specialize in mobile games.

The quality of this new title is still currently an unknown, seeing as how the developers involved claim to be looking to emulate the flashy action of the original game on Mobile. While Square Enix has captured the magic of Final Fantasy 15 in mobile before with the that earned a console releasePocket Edition due to how well it did when it first launched, other attempts at Mobile tie-ins and spin-offs haven't always gone so smoothly. However, with the JSC Games and GAEA Mobile's track record of Mobile titles, this new release should be something to look forward to, especially once a trailer drops to show of the flashy combat in action.

Final Fantasy 15: MMORPG is currently untitled and the release is TBA, exclusively for mobile.
