Final Fantasy 15's Episode Gladiolus DLC is coming soon, and Square Enix unveiled a few more details about the expansion to Final Fantasy 15's main story earlier today. While fans already knew that Episode Gladiolus would be part of Final Fantasy 15's season pass, Square Enix revealed that gamers can also purchase the episode on its own for $5. The developer also offered up a few more hints about the direction of Episode Gladiolus, stating that the new DLC would take place after a specific event in Final Fantasy 15's main narrative and would feature Gladiolus enlisting the aid of Cor to become even more powerful.

The fastest selling game in the history of the Final Fantasy franchise will also offer up its remaining DLC - Episode Ignis, Episode Prompto, and the multiplayer expansion Comrades - as standalone purchases once they are released. As it stands now, Episode Gladiolus is the first major DLC for Final Fantasy 15, following the Moogle Chocobo Carnival event that released earlier this year. It will also mark the first time players will be able to control a party member that isn't Noctis, so Episode Gladiolus will set the tone for the rest of Final Fantasy 15's season pass, which has been heavily marketed as an opportunity to get to know each party member better while playing as them.

According to Square Enix, the Episode Gladiolus DLC will offer up a "completely different type of gameplay", although that in and of itself is not necessarily a good thing. Final Fantasy 15 was praised for the diversity of its missions, gameplay, and narrative, but it was also heavily criticized for the execution of some of that diversity - in particular, Final Fantasy 15's Chapter 13 has been so poorly received that Square Enix is patching it at the end of March.

Luckily, Square Enix has had plenty of time to learn what did and didn't work in the massively successful Final Fantasy 15, so Episode Gladiolus will likely play to the strengths of the game while offering up a new look at its combat system. Fans will be able to decide for themselves soon, as Episode Gladiolus releases on March 28, 2017.

Final Fantasy 15 is available now for PS4 and Xbox One.
