Last week, Square Enix announced that 75 percent of the planned DLC that was supposed to release to Final Fantasy 15 was canceled indefinitely. Of course, this news disappointed several fans of the game, but a modder decided to create tombstones to the PC version of the game and memorialize the death of the extra content that will no longer see the light of day.

The mod, which is called “FFXV DLC Memorial,” was made by modder Mrsaturn241 who wrote a post on Steam explaining his creation. “I could handle the loss of the episodes fairly well, but after hearing that Windows Edition production has concluded, it was like another painful slap in the face.”

Furthermore, the modder continued saying that, “The level building tool and an improved Mod Organizer (that could actually handle the game’s assets) would have been a perfect send-off for the many people that were promised these tools when they bought the PC version. Now that the story expansion of FFXV has been harshly curtailed by all these cancellations, at least having the modding tools would be some consolation.”

Aside from the cancelation of the majority of Final Fantasy 15’s DLC, the studio also revealed that the game’s director, Hajime Tabata has left Square Enix as he wanted to pursue other projects and start his own business. Although there was no mention whether Tabata’s exit prompted the studio to cancel the remaining DLC or vice versa, the timing of the announcement may seem to suggest that one thing may have led to the other. Moreover, Luminous Productions, the studio that was initially tapped to develop the DLC, revealed that it will now focus on other AAA titles moving forward.

The sudden cancelation of Final Fantasy 15’s upcoming story episodes was a shock to the gaming community especially since the extra content was just announced earlier this year at PAX. During the event, the studio revealed that the game will be getting at least four extra episodes in 2019. Given the recent announcement, players can expect that Episodes Aranea, Lunafreya, and Noctis will no longer be released, but Episode Ardyn, on the other hand, is still scheduled to launch on March of 2019.

Final Fantasy 15 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
