Final Fantasy 14: Stormblood introduces a ton of new and exciting features to the MMO, but one of the most anticipated is the ability to play as a Red Mage. Playing the game with the new job is an exciting possibility for the veteran players and may also be a good motivation to level up for players who are using Stormblood as a jumping on point.

One of the things that makes Final Fantasy 14 so different from a game like World of Warcraft is how easy it is to switch jobs (classes), but some players have still been a little confused about the Red Mage unlock. Not to worry, it's actually pretty simple once the requirements have been met. Here is what you need to do...

Purchase the Expansion

It may go without saying, but in order to play with the new class users need to have a license for Stormblood. Playing the game without the expansions is still possible, but in order to access expansion specific features (like a new job), gamers need to lay down some cash.

Reach Level 50

To unlock the Red Mage, players must first reach level 50 on a character with a Discipline of War or Magic.

Visit Ul'Dah

After meeting the two prerequisites, players can head to Ul'Dah to get started. Head to the eastern side of the Steps of Ul'Dah once you arrive.

Speak With The Girl

There will be a young girl located at the steps who wants to talk to your character. Start this conversation and follow her instructions.

Speak With The Man

After the conversation, head just outside the town gate to speak with a man. This will trigger a cutscene. After that wraps up, head back to the girl to complete that short quest.

Visit Black Brush Station

Teleport to the station at Central Thanalan and head to the Coffer and Coffin. Speak with the Red Mage there and the job will become unlocked!

That's all there is to it. It's a very quick process once you get on the right path, so just make sure you meet the requirements and head to Ul'Dah to get start. Good luck!

Have you unlocked the Red Mage yet? If not, do you plan to give the job a try? Let us know in the comments!
