More content is coming soon to Final Fantasy 14, as the annual Starlight Celebration holiday event returns for another year. The news comes amid a content drought currently ongoing in Final Fantasy 14, as the game prepares to release a major update in the coming weeks.Recently, Final Fantasy 14 announced the upcoming return of the Moogle Treasure Trove event, which will run in tandem with the Starlight Celebration for a few weeks. In the Moogle Treasure Trove event, players will have the chance to earn rare mounts, minions, and other cosmetic rewards by completing specific instanced content such as Frontline PVP or alliance raids from the Heavensward expansion. The Moogle Treasure Trove begins on December 12 and will conclude when Final Fantasy 14 Patch 6.3, "Gods Revel, Lands Tremble," is released in early January.RELATED: WoW: Dragonflight Has Final Fantasy 14 Easter EggRunning alongside that, the Starlight Celebration begins next Thursday, December 15, and concludes on New Year's Eve, on Saturday, December 31. Inspired by Christmas festivities and activities in the real world, the Starlight Celebration is a yuletide event of merriment, gift exchanges, and a way to bring players together for the season. This year, the Starlight Celebration has been titled "Magics of Eld Conjure Smiles Anew," and will have two distinct rewards for players to earn. These rewards can be obtained by completing a seasonal quest called "Reindeer Fame" in Old Gridania, by speaking to a miqo'te NPC named Amh Garanjy at Mih Khetto's Amphitheatre.

By completing the quest and seeing the associated story unfold, players will earn a new mount, the aptly-named Starlight Steed, and an outdoor furnishing item in the form of the Illuminated Tree. The Starlight Steed will be the first reindeer mount in Final Fantasy 14, which may motivate mount collectors to participate in the festivities. The Starlight Celebration begins as Final Fantasy 14 prepares for Patch 6.3 in early January. The upcoming patch will include new main story content, a new alliance raid, and more for players to look forward to.

As for the game developers themselves, Final Fantasy 14 game director and producer Naoki Yoshida will make an appearance at The Game Awards in his capacity as the producer of Final Fantasy 16. Yoshida will appear as a special guest presenter, with the anticipation building that a release date and pre-order bonuses for Final Fantasy 16 could be confirmed at the show. Between the events coming soon to Final Fantasy 14, and hype over the upcoming Final Fantasy 16 reaching a fever pitch, fans of the Final Fantasy series will be feasting this holiday season.

Final Fantasy 14 is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5.
