Gamers are always looking for outlets to express their creativity, and Final Fantasy 14 fans are most certainly among that number. One Final Fantasy 14 player has expressed this creativity in the form of a custom book controller to play the Scholar and Summoner jobs with.

Super Louis 64 is the creative genius behind this controller. His mastery of crazy custom controller creation has earned him the title of “Controller Bender.” The Scholar book controller is one of many Final Fantasy 14 controllers he has made on his quest to become the real-life Warrior of Light.

The controller itself is essentially a modded-out Xbox controller which uses pressure sensors to detect when he writes in the book. The giant pencil has a joystick and additional buttons on it to allow Super Louis 64 to move his character and select from ability presets. To actually cast the spell, Super Louis 64 has to scribble on the top or bottom of the book’s page for a certain amount of time, which then begins casting the preset spells. Though he won’t be clearing any of Final Fantasy 14’s most challenging content with it, Super Louis 64’s dungeon runs with the controller were chaotic and hilarious to watch.

Though he has made tons of other Final Fantasy 14 controllers already, Super Louis 64 has made some for other games as well. He has beaten Halo 3 and Elden Ring with a Guitar Hero controller, and has played Overwatch using a Ring Fit Adventure controller. He has even beaten Dark Souls with a controller made of actual bananas. There is truly no limit to the creative absurdity of Super Louis 64’s controller ideas.

Super Louis 64’s fans adore his wacky controller bending skills. Though they are hardly the most optimal forms of gameplay, many fans would jump at the chance to play with one of these controllers. Many would love it if Final Fantasy 14 gave him the go-ahead to design official custom controllers for the game, as unlikely as that would be. Many fans also wonder what his custom controllers would look like for the less-orthodox weapons in Final Fantasy 14, such as the Sage’s multiple flying noulith wands.

Never satisfied, Super Louis 64 is already planning his next Final Fantasy 14 controller bending project. He has teased several of these projects, especially a Dark Knight greatsword controller, for some time. Until then, fans of the critically-acclaimed MMORPG can enjoy Super Louis 64’s other projects as they prepare for Final Fantasy 14’s next major patch.

Final Fantasy 14 is available now on PC, PS4, and PS5.
