Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker launched today on December 7th, after a 4-day long Early Access period. Excitement for the game has been high, as the servers are bustling with activity, and the queues in Final Fantasy 14 are as long as they've ever been. Ordering food and playing the game goes hand-in-hand for players seeking to avoid the ruthless waiting times present at peak hours for their region. To that end, Square Enix has partnered with GrubHub for a special promotion that allows players to enjoy their pizza both within and without Eorzea.

Those who place an order using GrubHub of at least $15 and input the promo code "ENDWALKER" before confirming their order (between December 9th and December 15th) will receive a redeemable item code on the e-mail associated with their GrubHub account after the end of the promotion period on Friday, December 17th. Furthermore, if a person places an order and uses the promo code during the Game Awards on December 9th, they will receive free delivery up to $6.

By redeeming this code on a Final Fantasy 14 account, a character of their choice will receive an exclusive Eat Pizza emote. Given the nature of GrubHub operating chiefly in the United States, this promotion is only redeemable on North American Square Enix accounts, and only on full-service accounts – or to be precise, the code is not redeemable for those still on the Free Trial version of Final Fantasy 14.

While it is unknown if players from other regions will receive an opportunity to obtain this emote in the future, there exists a precedent for Square Enix adding past promotional items to the optional item store of Final Fantasy 14. Perhaps one of the most popular and obvious ones is the addition of the Loyal Housemaid and Loyal Butler outfits, originally obtained through an Amazon promo, and thanks to Final Fantasy 14's Endwalker expansion, their gender lock has also been removed.

The promotion has unsurprisingly left many players, especially those who play outside North America, feeling underwhelmed. Outside of the hard region-lock imposed on the promotion, some among the community argue that the emote, redeemable on a single character, is not worth the $15 price tag – even if a pizza is attached to it. The more patient players in the community believe that the emote will most likely find its way to the Mog Store at a later date for any price between $2 to $5.
