Fans of Final Fantasy 14 are passionate about style. So much so, that a hairstyle that was once exclusive to a limited-time event has finally become permanently available in the latest patch. The aforementioned Rainmaker style is not the only hair option to be added in Patch 5.5, however. As part of the NieR: Automata collaboration that has been ongoing for over a year, the hairstyles of 2B and 9S are now obtainable.

Ever since the release of Patch 5.1 in October 2019, Final Fantasy 14 players have been collecting cosmetic items for their characters based on Akihiko Yoshida's designs from NieR: Automata. The introduction of the 24-man alliance raid known as the Copied Factory brought along outfits reminiscent of the YoRHa style from the original game, including that of fan-favorite character 2B. As part of the content added in Final Fantasy 14 Patch 5.5, fans can complete their NieR cosplays with the 2B and 9S hairstyles, or incorporate those styles into glamours of their own imagining.

Adventurers can get their hands on the 2B and 9S hairstyles as rewards from the new 24-man alliance raid, the Tower at Paradigm's Breach. These hairstyles come in the form of items called "Modern Aesthetics - Battle-ready Bobs" and "Modern Aesthetics - Scanning for Style," respectively. Accessing the Tower at Paradigm's Breach requires completing all the previous raids and quests in the YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse series thus far. Players who are eager to use the new hairstyles will have a lot of work cut out for them if they aren't caught up on the relevant questline.

It should be noted that it is not guaranteed whatsoever that players will obtain the 2B and 9S hairstyles simply by completing the Tower at Paradigm's Breach raid. The fashion items do drop from a treasure coffer following the final boss fight of the raid, but players may have to compete with all 23 other members of the alliance to obtain them. Since these items are in high demand for both aesthetic and re-selling purposes, the odds are not in the individual's favor.

For fans who can not yet access the Tower at Paradigm's Breach or those who would rather no rely on a lucky roll, there is another option for obtaining the 2B and 9S hairstyles in Final Fantasy 14. Because the items, "Modern Aesthetics - Battle-ready Bobs" and "Modern Aesthetics - Scanning for Style," are considered to be tradeable, they can be obtained from other players.

While not everyone may know a soul generous enough to give these coveted items away for free, they can certainly be purchased from the player-run Market Board in any major city. For as long as these items remain new and in-demand, however, prices will be high. Adventurers will need some deep pockets full of gil if they want to purchase rare cosmetic items.

For those playing Final Fantasy 14 during the release window of Patch 5.5, there is plenty of other content to tackle and items to collect. Hoarders and glamour fiends will want to participate in the Hatching-tide seasonal event before it goes away for another year. Seasonal events are known to provide cosmetic gear and housing furniture that can be difficult or impossible to obtain after the event period. Adventurers with a sense of humor wouldn't want to miss their chance to wear a chicken suit while sporting a 2B hairdo.
