With the recent Free Login Campaign for Final Fantasy 14 lasting from April 14 to May 17, many new and returning players will be returning to Eorzea and the world of Hydaelyn as a whole. However, while it's always fun to indulge the lore and story of the game, sometimes players may want a break from the more heavier content. Players can relax and play various mini-games in exchange for MGP that can be then exchanged for prizes at the Gold Saucer.

The Gold Saucer can be accessed after completing the It Could Happen to You quest, which is available after players complete their respective Main Scenario Envoy quest. While inside the Gold Saucer, the player cannot die or take damage even via fall damage. This area is based of the area of the same name that appears in Final Fantasy 7.

While inside the Gold Saucer, there will be special times events known as Gold Saucer Active Time Events, or GATEs for short. These events happen every 20 minutes and the location of each can be located by talking to any GATE attendant in the Gold Saucer. All of these events can net players with high amounts of MGP that help grinding for specific prizes become much easier. Prizes include minions, clothing options, weapons, and many more.

Cliffhanger

FFXIV Cliffhanger gate

This GATE has players climb up a vertical obstacle course while bombs are being thrown at them in order to rescue a stranded chocobo at the very top. As mentioned before, damage from the bombs isn't what players have to worry about. However, the blowback from the bombs are capable of knocking players off onto the start of the course, losing a lot of progress. Players are recommended to take their time climbing, as the wrong move can set them back a long way.

The Time of My Life

Final Fantasy XIV Gold Saucer

This GATE relies on players remembering the emotes in Final Fantasy 14 and what they look like. Players must watch the NPCs on the stage as they perform four different emotes. These emotes will not have any flavor text in chat, so players need to pay attention. After they perform these emotes, players must repeat the emotes. This will go on for four rounds and players must perform at least 10 successful emotes to get MGP.

Leap of Faith

FFXIV Leap of Faith GATE

Leap of Faith is the most common GATE and thus has the most layout variations. This GATE is a vertical platformer that requires players to make it to the stop of a statues hands in order to complete the GATE. However, more MGP can be earned by collecting the various cactaur trophies strewn throughout the obstacle course. They come in bronze, silver, and gold with the amount of MGP earned increasing with trophy value. To play it safe, players can continue collecting trophies after reaching the statue's hands.

Any Way the Wind Blows

FFXIV Any way the wind blows gate

This GATE is completely luck based. It will have players stand on stage with the random possibility of getting knocked off in an AOE attack where there will be no time to react.

Air Force One

FFXIV Air Force One Gate

This GATE is a simple shooter game where players have to shoot the star targets while avoiding the bomb targets. Players will only be on rails and shouldn't worry about steering of any kind. The more targets shot down, the more MGP will be earned at the end.

The Slice is Right

FFXIV The Slice is Right

This GATE functions the exact same as Any Where the Wind Blows. It is entirely luck based.

Skinchange We Can Believe In

FFXIV Skinchange GATE

The goal of this GATE is to find an NPC that looks exactly like an imp disguised as them. However, there are also many NPCs that look similar, so players must look carefully to make sure there aren't any subtle differences such as scars or clothes. Players only have one shot to guess, so they should only guess if they're absolutely sure.
