One way that Final Fantasy 14 has continued to stand out among other MMORPGs over the last few years is the focus it has had on narrative and character driven story moments. While many MMOs shy away from a rigid story structure that places each player among millions as the chosen savior, the Final Fantasy 14 story is filled with both lore that is familiar to the genre and uniquely quotable scenes and encounters.
With the recent release of the new Endwalker expansion to Final Fantasy 14 breathing some healthy new life into the game's online community, players are gathering to share some of their favorite moments from these story and character moments. The results range from some of the more epic moments from throughout the narrative, to the funnier one-off lines that really stick with fans and keep them coming back to laugh.
This trend started with a Reddit post by user mogstermemes, who posted one of their favorite quotes from the character Y'shtola as a sticker, like they might put on their PC or console. The quote says, "I am...not interested, little sun. Try again when you have become a man." For those unfamiliar, this quote comes from the Stormblood expansion, where the character Magnai gets rejected by Y'shtola after asking if she is his Nhaama. It's a minor scene from that's even been referenced in Final Fantasy 14's Valentines Day events as Magnai continues to find a significant other, and has stuck with fans thanks in part to brutal delivery of the rejection.
Other fans have thrown in their own favorite quotes that they might enjoy slapping onto their PCs or stick onto a refrigerator magnet, so they can walk by and have a laugh when they see it. These ranged from something as comical as a character passively saying, "Go punch a moogle for me," to some of the more epic moments from boss fights like Zenos. However, as is common when sharing quotes online, most fans tend to gravitate towards the funnier quotes as opposed to the narrative heavy sections of Final Fantasy 14 and its expansions.
A surprising number of the more hilarious quotes appear to involve characters murdering someone else, which isn't too out of the question for a title about competing factions in a world perpetually at war. Although, with more to do in the world of Eorzea than kill, such as playing Final Fantasy 14's Triple Triad mini-game, fans might hope that the NPCs might have more to talk about from time to time. Still, several of these quotes would easily make for a hilarious sticker that could show off a fan's appreciation for the game by immortalizing the intent to kill a god or punch a moogle.
