Final Fantasy 14 is headed towards a thrilling conclusion of the storyline that began in Newfound Adventure, as Square Enix reveals a first look into The Dark Throne, Endwalker's Patch 6.4. With over a year since its release, the latest Final Fantasy 14 expansion has brought the game an unprecedented level of growth, as Endwalker doubled the population of players at launch, and the numbers keep growing. While the patches of Endwalker have followed a tried-and-true format established since A Realm Reborn made its debut, an increased budget has allowed the developers to offer a bigger chunk of content in every patch cycle thus far.

Endwalker has seen the release of Pandaemonium, and Patch 6.4 is set to conclude the raid series with its final wing of Anabaseios. In terms of the Main Scenario, Warriors of Light can expect to confront Final Fantasy 14's Golbez on the Thirteenth Reflection's moon in The Voidcast Dais trial, available in both Normal and Extreme mode. Naoki Yoshida teasingly made a point that the fight is expected to be difficult compared to previous Endwalker trials.

In the Letter from the Producer livestream, the developers also revealed the release window for Patch 6.4, confirming the community's speculation that it would debut in late May. The Dark Throne will also feature a new dungeon set in the Northern Empty on an isle dotted by Sharlayan architecture, and will continue Tataru's Grand Endeavor by pairing up players with Gaius Baelsar once again. While job adjustments for both PvP and PvE content were announced by Yoshida, Square Enix will reveal the details in full at the second Live Letter concerning the upcoming Final Fantasy 14 patch.

Continuing the precedent established by Shadowbringers, Endwalker will raise the cap of Blue Mages to 80 in Patch 6.4, allowing players to tackle outdoor content and treasure maps with an array of new spells and new glamours. Mount Rokkon, a new Kugane-inspired duty is joining Sil'dihn Subterrane as the next Variant and Criterion dungeon, and Ocean Fishing is coming to Kugane as well. Island Sanctuaries in Final Fantasy 14 are also getting an upgrade, as players will now be able to decorate their base of operations with up to 90 outdoor furnishings.

While not part of Endwalker's patch content, Naoki Yoshida went on to say that the next Final Fantasy 14 expansion would see the housing item limit expanded (if not outright doubled) similarly to how Endwalker handled glamour dresser slots. Players can expect to hear more about the upcoming expansion at Fan Festival in Las Vegas on July 28 and July 29.

Final Fantasy 14 is currently available on PC, PS4, and PS5.
