In Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker, players now have access to a bounty hunting board called The Hunt for Specimen. While this board is great for daily XP boosts, players will need to unlock the ability to use the board first.

What is the Hunt Board in FF14?

There are two guildship Hunt boards currently in FF14: one in the new location Old Sharlayan and one in Radz-at-Hand. Players can access these boards and grab daily bounties that give players special tokens and experience when completed. The Hunt's tokens can be exchanged for exclusive items with two NPCs: J'lakshai in Old Sharlayan and Wilmetta in Radz-at-Hand.

Unlocking the Hunt for the Specimen in FF14

To start these bounty hunts, Final Fantasy 14 players will have to complete a long line of quests. First, they will need to travel to the Grand Company Hall to get the side quest called "Let the Hunt Begin."

  • Complete Let the Hunt Begin, which will unlock Let the Clan Hunt Begin at The Forgotten Knight in Ishgard.
  • Complete Let the Clan Hunt Begin, and this unlocks Better Bill Hunting at the same location and Top Marks in the scenic FF14 location Idyllshire.
  • Once those are complete, head back to the Forgotten Knight and grab Elite and Dangerous.
  • Players will also have had to complete the story mission Old Sharlayan New To You.

Once all of these are completed, players will finally unlock the Hunt for the Specimen in this newcomer-friendly MMORPG.

Now that everything is unlocked, players can chat with the Diminutive Gleaner in Old Sharlayan, then Northota, another NPC nearby. Now players will have access to both the Hunt Boards. Interact with the board and click "Accept." This will put all five hunting marks in the player's inventory, allowing them to complete these for rewards. Each bounty is a request to hunt down a creature in the area that is causing trouble, or a request from a researcher for a specimen sample.

Players have the rest of the day until reset to complete these and get the tokens before a new set of Hunts will become available. Follow the instructions on the Hunt to not only find the monster and get rid of it in an epic FF14 battle, then collect the required specimen. After level 83, higher-tiered Hunts will be unlocked for players as well.

Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker is in Early Access for PC, PS4, and PS5.
