The Aether Compass is a very important item in Final Fantasy 14, helping players track down the Aether Currents that will set their mounts airborne. Prior to the release of the Endwalker expansion, fans could find their Aether Compasses in the Key Items section of their inventories, though that is no longer the case. Indeed, the Aether Compass has been moved in Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker, and this guide is here to help fans find it.

Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker: Where to Find Aether Compass

Players that are having trouble locating their Aether Compassess in the new Final Fantasy 14 expansion should begin by clicking on the Duty button at the bottom-right corner of their screens. Fans should now access their Collections, and indeed they will find that the Aether Compass has taken up residence in this menu. In fact, players that may have discarded their Compasses in the past will find that they have reappeared in this location.

Final Fantasy 14: How to Unlock Aether Compass

For those fans that may have come across this guide without having already unlocked the Aether Compass, a few words on how the item is initially obtained may be helpful. Quite simply, players will receive the Compass upon completion of Divine Intervention, an FF14 Heavensward Main Scenario Quest. Fans will receive this quest from the House Fortemps Steward in Fortemps Manor, and the Aether Compass will appear in the aforementioned Collections menu when it is finished.

Final Fantasy 14: How to Use Aether Compass

With details on how to unlock the Aether Compass, and where to find it, established, some Final Fantasy 14 players may have questions about exactly how the item is used. As previously noted, the Compass serves to point fans toward nearby Aether Currents, and using the item will do just that. Once a player has been notified of the distance of the closest Current, they should travel to it, interact with it, and repeat this process until they have found all of them in an area.

To note, players will also need to find some Aether Currents through questing before fully completing their attunement to an area. This means that simply wandering around with the Aether Compass will not be enough to unlock flying in the various regions in FF14. Even still, players should make sure to check their Compasses somewhat frequently while they are exploring to knock out all of the Currents that can be found in that fashion.

Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5.
