Since the announcement of the upcoming expansion for Square Enix's MMORPG Final Fantasy 14, the title has generated a lot of online buzz and hype. This has led many streamers and content creators to jump onto the bandwagon, making the decision to give the video game a try, even if they are mostly known for their playthroughs of other popular MMO titles such as World of Warcraft. Recently, FF14 streamed its latest live letter that gave more details about Endwalker, and revealed that the highly-anticipated cross data center play feature will not be released alongside the new expansion.

Given that not much detail was shared when Endwalker was first announced, the 66th live letter from well-known FF14 producer Naoki Yoshida was livestreamed for over seven hours on the game's official YouTube channel. The producers spared no detail, and went through the many changes and new features that are coming to the expansion. This included delving into the specific job adjustments, and showcasing each one while live, while also providing the audience with a deep dive into the expansion's new jobs such as the Reaper and Sage.

At around the six-and-a-half hour mark of the stream, Yoshida announced that the upcoming Data Travel Center system will not be available when Endwalker is launched in November 2021. Given that FF14 recently broke its concurrent player record on Steam, many of its players continue to struggle with logging into the online world of Eorzea. This has led the development team to make the decision that they will put the cross data center travel feature on hold, in order to address issues with server congestion. In the livestream, the translator offered the team's sincerest apologies as their main concern centered on providing stable connectivity to the current player base.

For those not familiar with the feature, the Data Travel Center system will allow players from different data centers to visit each other's worlds. This means that friends who were unable to create their FF14 characters in the same data center due to being in different geographical locations will now be able to travel to each other's worlds and play together. For many players who have been waiting to adventure through Eorzea together, this feature is likely something they are very excited about.

Though the delay was announced in the live letter, no detail about when the feature will be implemented was revealed. The only thing fans can glean off the livestream is that the feature will arrive after Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker's release. Players will have to stay tuned to FF14's official channels for the exact date of the feature's implementation.

Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker releases on November 23 for PC, PS4, and PS5.
