Fans of Final Fantasy 14 have plenty on their to-do list with the release of Patch 5.55. This latest update concludes the storyline that began in Patch 5.5 back in April and brings a close to the Shadowbringers scenario as a whole. Beyond the addition of story quests that are expected in any major patch, this update brings many desirable cosmetic items for players to strive for. The Both Ways hairstyle is one of these coveted items, and Final Fantasy 14 players will be eager to apply it to their own characters or sell it for a premium.

Patch 5.55 comes in the wake of news about the upcoming Endwalker expansion. With the much-hyped expansion being 6 months removed from Patch 5.55, fans may start to get desperate for content to keep them busy. This could explain why many appealing items are locked behind some of the game's most grind-heavy content. Some players could have their work cut out for them in order to earn the Both Ways hairstyle and some of the other newly-added items. That being said, adventurers with deep pockets will often have the chance to buy such items from other players.

How to Get the Both Ways Hairstyle in Final Fantasy 14

The Both Ways hairstyle is obtained by using the item Modern Aesthetics - Both Ways. Like with other hairstyles, players can search for this item on the in-game Market Board and purchase it from another adventurer who earned it on the battlefield. The actual method of finding the item involves venturing to Zadnor, a new area that is associated with the Save the Queen questline.

Players will earn Zadnor Lockboxes by participating in Skirmishes or Critical Engagements in the area. Upon appraising a Zadnor Lockbox with the appropriate NPC, players will receive a random item. The Both Ways hairstyle is one of the rarer obtainable items, so some luck is definitely required.

It should be noted that players who have yet to begin the Save the Queen questline will have a long way to go before they can access Zadnor. A certain amount of progress must be made in the main scenario, up to the quest Futures Rewritten. Additionally, players will need to access the Bozjan Southern Front and complete all story quests associated with that area. This would entail grinding "mettle" and increasing one's own rank within Bozja, a sort of alternative leveling system that only applies to areas associated with Save the Queen. Even accessing the Bozjan Southern Front has its own prerequisite in the form of all three Ivalice alliance raids.

Suffice it to say, only the most actively engaged players will have a chance to loot the Both Ways hairstyle with their own hands. Anyone else who wants to nab this adorable new cosmetic for their character will have to farm up plenty of gil. However, the best way to approach such a daunting task in an MMORPG is to grab a party of other like-minded players and make the journey together. Few things can bring Final Fantasy 14 players together like the promise of stylish glamour.
