Those familiar with MMOs like Final Fantasy 14 know that there is an element of grind to the game. While Final Fantasy 14 may not be as grind-intensive in some aspects as other MMOs, there are a few in the game that are a little mind-boggling. One such example is that involving Bicolor Gemstone Vouchers.

Before getting into the process that is earning the Bicolor Gemstone Vouchers, one needs to examine the end-product and determine if it is worth their valuable time. Currently, there are only two items purchasable with the vouchers. One is the Fallen Angel Wings fashion accessory and the other is the Wivre Horn used to summon the unique Wivre mount. Each requires 500 Bicolor Gemstone Vouchers to purchase. To earn the vouchers, one needs to earn Bicolor Gemstones. From there, it is a 100:1 ratio of gemstones to vouchers.

Getting Bicolor Gemstones

For those that have already done the quick math, earning one item equates to 50,000 Bicolor Gemstones per item and 100,000 Bicolor Gemstones for both. Now the question of how to earn these gemstones arises. Players will earn the gemstones upon completing Shared FATEs in either of the Shadowbringers or Endwalker expansion zones. However, there are a number of Shared FATEs locked behind completion ranks.

To check a zone's rank, players will open the "Travel" tab from the "Main Menu" and select "Shared FATE". The new window will display the total number of Bicolor Gemstones as well as the ranking for each zone. Leveling up a rank simply requires a player to complete FATEs. Completing a single FATE unlocks rank 1, 6 FATEs unlocks rank 2, and 60 FATEs unlocks rank 3.

Unlocking Bicolor Gemstone Vouchers

Upon acquiring enough Bicolor Gemstones to purchase a voucher (100), players can take them to one of two merchants to complete the transaction. They are Gadfrid in Old Sharlayan (X:12.7, Y:10.4) and Sajareen in Radz-at-Han (X11.1, Y:10.2). Additionally, players can purchase the vouchers from Final Fantasy 14's Market Board, but be warned; they can be fairly expensive (100,000+ gil for 1). Because it takes so many gemstones to purchase a voucher, it is recommended to stock up before heading in to exchange them.

After saving up enough vouchers for one or both items, players will need to speak with Luxury Trader, Edelina in Mor Dhona (X:22.1, Y:4.9). This merchant of fine wares will have the items players seek. The Fallen Angel Wings and Wivre Horn are two extremely rare items in the game due to the amount of time and effort required to purchase them. As such, they carry a certain amount of "bragging rights" in Eorzea, aside from the true endgame of Final Fantasy fashion.

Ultimately, it is up to the individual to decide if they want to spend the arguably obscene amount of time required to earn even one of the items. But there are worse ways to spend some time for completionists or those just looking for something to do.

Final Fantasy 14 is currently available on PC, PS4, and PS5.
