For players who weren't hyped about purchasing Final Fantasy XIII-2 before, perhaps these pre-order incentives will do the trick -- or at least Square Enix hopes so. As revealed today, pre-ording Final Fantasy XIII-2 at Best Buy, GameStop, or Amazon will net fans some real treats.

Final Fantasy XIII managed a mediocre review here on Game Rant, but has managed to ship 6.2 million units world wide since its release in March 2010. It's forthcoming sequel received a North American release date and two new trailers at TGS 2011.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 promises extraordinary level design with more exploration opportunities (check out the environments in these screenshots), which would be a big step up from the linear design of FFXIII. Final Fantasy XIII-2 will also include an enhanced battle system that allows players to command monsters and a variety of options that support multiple playthroughs.

Check out the full rundown of Final Fantasy XIII-2 pre-order incentives below:

GameStop

Receive an exclusive in-game item by pre-ordering at GameStop e/retailers

-       Alternate costume for Serah, visible throughout the game

Amazon

Omega Boss Battle

-       Unique coliseum battle against boss enemy “Omega,” who joins the player’s party afterward

Best Buy

Collectible Hardcover Book

-       FINAL FANTASY XIII —Episode i— novella, an original story that ties together the events of FINAL FANTASY XIII and FINAL FANTASY XIII-2

Unfortunately, these pre-order initiatives are for North America exclusively and may not reflect content available in other territories.

If it was up to me, I would go for the novella or the Omega battle. They seem like more of a rewarding outcome than just a costume -- unless you go for that sort of thing.

It may be too soon to tell, but are you looking forward to playing this game when it comes out? Do any of these incentives get you excited enough to pre-order Final Fantasy XIII-2?

Final Fantasy XIII-2 will be available January 31, 2012, for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
