Lots of gamers are already pros at Final Fantasy 12 from playing the game back in the PS2 era, but that's not the case for everyone. There are a lot of moving pieces in the remaster and fans who fell in love with the franchise by playing Final Fantasy 15 are likely to be a little lost when diving into The Zodiac Age. To get started, it's important to be aware of the game's most valuable skill - Libra.

Final Fantasy 12 is a game that requires players to really take advantage of enemy weaknesses. One strategy to accomplish that is pulling up a Strengths/Weaknesses table from a game guide, but that doesn't always do the trick. The problem with looking up weaknesses manually is that gambit using party members won't know the information.

To make sure your party members who use gambit are aware of the enemy weaknesses, players need to use Libra to scan the bad guys. After revealing the enemy weak points with the powerful ability, the gambit-using characters will take advantage of that knowledge and exploit enemy weaknesses automatically.

Libra is an essential ability and players should spend the 200 LP to purchase the Technick as early as possible. Along that same line of thought, players will also want to make sure to cast it on new enemies at the very start of the encounter. The earlier the party members have the intel, the quicker the monsters will fall.

The following jobs all have access to this technick naturally:

  • Archer
  • Machinist
  • Monk
  • Shikari

In addition, these jobs can also gain access to Libra with a license:

  • White Mage (Cuchulainn Esper)
  • Bushi (Belias)
