Anyone wanting to check out Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age currently have only two options for doing so. They can play on either the PS4 or PC. That will change later this year, though, as Square Enix is currently developing ports for both the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One. As a bit of incentive to new players, these versions will come with a handful of new features.

The official site for Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age was recently updated to give a rundown of the new features included in the upcoming ports, such as changes to the job system and New Game+. The site also notes that all features and improvements that came with previous versions of Zodiac Age will be part of the new one.

In addition to the previously included features in Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age on PC and PlayStation 4, the Xbox One and Switch iterations will also receive the following features below. They should be available once the new ports arrive near the beginning of Spring, and launch simultaneously on Switch and Xbox One on April 16, 2019.

But this bit of Final Fantasy 12 news won't be it for Final Fantasy ports. Square Enix has been making efforts to put many of the classic titles from the series on as many consoles as possible. Final Fantasy 11, which was already available on most platforms, has recently been added to both the Switch and Xbox One. Additionally, Final Fantasy 7–arguably the most popular entry in the series–just received a release date for the Switch. The port will be launching on March 26, 2019.

As for the future of the series, there hasn't been any information on what Square Enix has cooking up for Final Fantasy 16. Nevertheless, the director and producer of Final Fantasy 14, Naoki Yoshida, has some ideas of what he'd like to see next. During a recent FanFest, Yoshida said he wants the next main title to go back to classic fantasy, with less of the machinery that is so prominent in the series today. He's not alone. This is something plenty of Final Fantasy fans who would love to see, as the last main entry to really do this was Final Fantasy 11.

Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age is out now for PC and PS4, and is coming to Switch and Xbox One on April 30, 2019.
