Final Fantasy 10 is praised for being one of the most comfortable entries to start with if anyone wants to start playing a Final Fantasy game for the first time. It's the first game that has received full voice-acting, and a lot of heart and dedication went into this title, along with a few cringe-inducing, but at the same time hilarious, scenes.

It might not be the best-loved in the franchise, but each person to their own. Oddly enough, Final Fantasy 10 and 10-2 got HD remasters first, ahead of every other 3D title, but the first full remake is Final Fantasy 7 coming in April 2020.

The land of  Spira is a pretty massive place, so of course, it's filled to the brim with story and content, but what are the best and most annoying side quests of the game? This following list is not saying the annoying side quests are bad, they're just very irritating, that's all.

10 Best: Finding The Jecht Spheres

Final Fantasy 10 Best Jecht Spheres

Jecht was one of the best characters in all of Final Fantasy 10, not just because he's integral to the plot, but because he's a starstruck dad who has no clue on know how to be a dad. Then he finally becomes Sin, he goes out of his way, knowing the pain-inflicting to those around him, he only to see his beloved son who is his world.

Finding the Jecht spheres, allows the player to find out more about Jecht, how he changes through his journey with Auron and Braska. As a bonus by finding them all Auron, also one of the best characters in the game learns is final overdrive.

9 Annoying: Capturing The Fiends

This is the quest running up to the Monster Arena, where players have to capture fiends for the owner, then optionally fight them. Yeah, it seems a lot of hard work.

However, it gets worse; a particular skill is needed to be able to capture foes; without it, it's impossible, specifically, a skill called 'Capture.' Luckily enough, the damage of the weapon does not go down, like using morph in Final Fantasy 7, now that was hellish. The killing blow has to be made with a 'capture' weapon unless it can't be captured and sent to the Monster Arena.

This quest isn't overly hard; it does involve backtracking and getting lucky with rare fiend spawns, though.

8 Best: The Monster Arena

In the Calm Lands, which is an odd place to put a Monster Arena based off the name alone, is a battle arena that puts you against fiends. There are 13 sections for you to fight, and various amounts of monsters within each section, that you have to fight party vs. fiend until all the monsters in that section have been challenged.

The owner of this fine establishment, when conditions are met, breeds unique monsters from the numerous monsters captured. Players then have to pay to be able to fight these new monsters, and upon their defeat, a prize is awarded.

7 Annoying: The Dark Aeons

Annoying is right, without an awful lot of grinding and especially without the right equipment, The Dark Aeons that appear are incredibly difficult to beat. Some of them have crazy high HP and hit like several thousand Sin's taped together.

There are as many Dark Aeons as they are normal Aeons, so there are nine in total to defeat, and of course, once all have been defeated, a secret super powerful optional boss appears called Penance, who is the hardest boss in the entire game, so have fun with that.

6 Best: Finding The Optional Aeons

In video games finding hidden things is always a blast, even more so when a completed game becomes instantly replayable with some research on secrets, Final Fantasy 10 is no exception. Three additional Aeons are entirely missable but are worthwhile to learn how to find, Yojimbo, Anima, and the Magus Sisters are their names.

Yojimbo especially is far the most unique out of them all, as players have to pay him for him to attack, and certain amounts of Gil can special attacks can occur, such as an instant kill move called Zanmato! But it all depends on his motivation.

5 Annoying: Lightning Dodges

This is the bane of everyone's existence ever, even worse than the Final Fantasy 9 skipping rope challenge, well maybe. The lovely land of Spira has a barren wasteland with everlasting lighting bombardment, aptly named the Thunder Plains, how wonderful. An Al Bhed decided to place lightning towers that attract the lightning so people can pass by without getting fried.

However, there is a quest in the game to dodge lightning bolts in a row. They're prizes based on how many have been accomplished - ranging from 5 to 200! Oh, and one hit by a bolt resets the counter. Now the prizes available are pretty good, especially early on in the game, but 200 is needed for a specific item for Lulu's best weapon. Good luck!

4 Best: Omega Ruins

In the Omega Ruins is where the most difficult fiends are in the entire game along with such enemies that brought many horrors to other Final Fantasy games like Great Malboro's and Tonberry's. Yes, quake in fear of Bad Breath!

This dungeon is incredibly fun and challenging, as one wrong move could lead to a lot of lost progress. Down in the dungeon, two bosses lay in wait, and they should also sound familiar, Ultima Weapon and Omega Weapon. Ultima Weapon is a slight joke when compared to Omega. Put it this way; one has 99,999 HP, the other under 999,999 HP.

3 Annoying: Chocobo Racing

Just like the dodging lightning bolts of death, this quest to get an item for Tidu's celestial weapon is also one of the most hated parts of this game. Chocobo Racing, that's always been fun. Think back to Final Fantasy 7, when Chocobo Racing was decent because there was a cheat for unlimited stamina.

Well, for this item, on a Chocobo, the player has to reach the finishing line under a certain amount of time; that time is 0.00. On the course, they're balloons that the Chocobo can hit that reduces the time on the clock; this has to be done perfectly, as the only way to win is to get into a negative time. Chocobo's are meant to be a fun experience, and certainly not be tempted to feed them to the Chocobo Eater.

2 Best: Learning Al Bhed Language

Games that have their own language has always been crazy, but a game where it's possible to learn that language? Not going to lie, that's pretty cool. The Al Bhed is a tribe of people in Spira that have a unique dialect that, but throughout the game, Al Bhed Primers can be found, and each primer teaches one letter of the Al Bhed alphabet.

On an initial playthrough, having no idea what they are saying, and then on a second playthrough being able to understand them is fantastic.

Overall, they are 26 in total to find, but sadly, some of these are missable so that the language will remain incomplete. However, if most of the primers have been acquired, it's easy to fill in the blanks.

1 Annoying: Blitzball Grinding

Blitzball itself is a pretty fun side game within Final Fantasy, by all means, it's not a mini-game. Just like the two mentioned above to do stupid grind worthy stuff to get an item, for this time, Wakka's ultimate weapon in the game.

If Blitzball were only a fun thing to do, it would be a great addition, but many many many games have to be played to unlock the item that is needed. In all honesty, to play it legit would take twice as long then to cheese games. The grind isn't actually the game itself, it's leveling up your players, and finding the best players throughout Spira, and learning their techs.
