Final Fantasy 10-2 is one of the series' more polarizing titles, in part due to departure from its predecessor. Nonetheless, Final Fantasy 10-2's characters remain just as iconic as they did in 2003, with one cosplayer tackling one of Yuna's many Dressphere appearances.

The follow up to the critically acclaimed PS2 RPG Final Fantasy 10 takes a different route from its predecessor both narratively and gameplay wise. Following after the events after the first game, Yuna, Rikku, and newcomer Paine are a part of the Gullwings, a group of sphere hunters, seeking these powerful items across the world of Spira. Notably this game revives the job mechanic of the old Final Fantasy games with its Dresspheres, allowing the trio to change out their roles and abilities to the player's liking. With every Dressphere (and there are a lot of spheres to unlock), comes new outfits, with the Songstress being one of the first spheres players receive in the game.

Cosplayer oruntia posted her cosplay of Yuna in her Songstress form to DeviantArt, and has received a lot of attention. Notable game designer and artist Tetsuya Nomura created the character designs for this game, with the Songstress outfits being more tame than others. Oruntia perfectly replicates the flowery aesthetic of Yuna's clothing, with the white frills around the collar, and the billowy cloth that hangs off her hip. One could also not forget the iconic microphone Yuna's uses as a weapon in this form, rendered perfectly here.

Her attention to detail extends beyond the outfit and props though, but to the entire image itself. In Final Fantasy 10-2's elaborate yet iconic opening, Yuna performs on a futuristic stage as musicians and lights swarm around her, a scene that can obviously not be rendered by normal means. From oruntia's stance and pose, to the production design of the audience in the background and heavy light sources above her, oruntia strongly evokes the original game in her cosplay. While technical effects are not necessary for a successful cosplay, they certainly help sell the cosplayer's interpretation of the character, as can be seen in other Yuna cosplays.

The great mystery and hope for fans of Final Fantasy 10-2 is the completion of a trilogy with a Final Fantasy 10-3. While nothing has been confirmed, recent comments by developers on the original have recently given fans hope that a third game may in fact be possible. If it were to happen, Final Fantasy 10 would join Final Fantasy 7 and 13 as the only entries to receive multiple direct sequels. If 10-3 does happen, hopefully the Dresspheres return so oruntia can produce more stunning Yuna cosplays.

Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
