Not only are there some interesting stories to unravel, some of the adventures lead to some serious loot that can help throughout the entire game. As with many titles, these side stories breathe some life into the game. Putting some time into the side content, especially these great quests, makes X-2 a much better experience for players.

10 Follow That Oaka

X-2 setting

Starting in the middle of the Macalania Woods, players will have to track down the speedy merchant as he sprints away and tries to avoid being caught at all costs. Catching him won't be too much trouble, but it isn't over there. Players can either turn him into his lenders or stow him away on the ship.

Giving him a place to hide will allow the team to pay down his 100,000 gil debt over time, getting Oaka off the hook and cutting his item prices by a massive 90 percent. If the player can pull off this objective earlier in the game, the savings are well worth the loan.

9 Run The Gunners Gauntlet

final Fantasy x2

This timed challenge will throw all sorts of creatures down the pipeline before the player completes the course and makes it out onto the beach. The goal is to take out the best enemies in the shortest amount of time, beating Beclem's score and claiming the reward.

The list of stats will show up on the side so nobody forgets where they stand, logging everything from deaths to dual shots. It's even become a community challenge with many tips and tricks to learn along the way.

8 Who Needs An Invitation?

Final Fantasy Youth League Mission

One reason players might have miss this quest is because it's locked off if they don't give the sphere to New Yevon in Chapter 2. When it's available, players walking down the Mushroom Rock Road will be thrown into a dispute between the Gullwings and the Youth League.

The player must push the attacking end of the Youth League back towards Headquarters and into the lift that takes them up. This ends the outburst, and the player will receive some rewards for helping out.

7 Tourist Trap

X2 side mission, cave

There are no fiends to fight this time. Instead, the player must simply round up a group of travelers that have spread themselves throughout the Cavern Of Stolen Fayth. However, it's not as easy as it first seems. Players will have to get these travelers to follow them in a specific order to get most of them in one trip.

As a more laid-back mission, what players really want from this are the rewards, which in piles from the many different grateful tourists. From energy cores to a Star Bracer, the prizes are well worth the low risk.

6 Follow That Moogle

Final Fantasy x2 SIde Mission

When players need a break from the hunt for items or tough challenges, tracking down a fluffy moogle is a welcome breather. This quest takes Yuna through her memories of Tidus from the first game, blending the past and present as she chases the creature down.

Not only is this a nice touch of nostalgia that lets players kick back and enjoy, this mission will also trigger the Episode Complete ending. It's the most satisfying way to close out a chapter, bringing the character one step close to a perfect game.

5 Battle Blockade

Battle Blockade, side mission

Upon joining Kimahri on Mount Gagazet, Yuna has to take on the more imposing Ronso in Garik. This warrior is fueled by his hatred for the Guado. It's time to meet him atop the summit and convince him to stop his incoming attack on the elvish creatures.

Calm discussion isn't exactly the Ronso way, triggering a battle. If players can handle the giant felines, they'll be rewarded with the Wishbringer grid and get some serious magic regeneration.

4 Youth League Tournament

side missions, youth league, FInal Fantasy x2

Heading back to Mushroom Rock Road is a challenge everyone should prepare for. Here lies a rite of passage to test the player's combat skills and see how much stamina they have. As the player takes on the Youth League's best, they engage in a 7 battle marathon to decide the winner.

Whoever can make it out of the challenge fighting will receive the ''Deathseeker'' treasure sphere and get some backstory to Nooj's character. It's also the Episode Complete mark, an especially important thing in the final chapter.

3 Masterpiece Theatre

machine enemies, hardest enemy

A straight-up boss fight that most players will regret missing, this side mission involves taking on the Machine Faction's best piece of work. Located in the Djose Temple, this is the toughest machine players are going to face in the final chapter.

Not only is it an ego boost, but the spoils of war are the real prize. Both a magical book and the Al Bhed Primer wait for the player on the other side.

2 The Cactuar Connection

cactuar nation

Travelling the Bikanel Desert, Yuna must find the ten gatekeepers and return them to the Cactuar Nation. What would usually be an easy task is turned into a real challenge with the low visibility and tricky hints.

Players will have to visit the Cactuar Mother so she can slowly lead them through clues, guiding the team through the sandy landscape. Once Yuna finds nine, then players will fight Angra Mainyu, opening up the last gatekeeper.

1 Showdown In The Sands

FInal Fantasy x2

Considering it's a boss fight that appears in the side missions, players are in for a real tough ride. Taking on the demon that has been casted out from the Cactuar Nation, it's up to the team to save the Al Bhed camp before the goliath attacks.

Seeing as this is the last possible side quest players will get, it's only right that winning the fight will lead to the Episode Complete ending. It's easily the biggest challenge outside of the main story, and the champion claims both bragging rights and fantastic items.
