FIFA 23 is the latest entry in this long-running series and aims to give players an authentic gameplay experience. EA finally revealed FIFA 23 via a new trailer and confirmed that it will be powered by HyperMotion2 technology. HyperMotion technology was a big focus of the marketing efforts of FIFA 22, although it was limited to current-gen versions of the game.

FIFA 23 is confirmed to have full support for cross-play in most game modes. Aside from that, not much was known about FIFA 23 before today, as EA didn’t host its usual summer press conference, known as EA Play Live, this year. With this new trailer, EA gives fans a glimpse at FIFA 23’s gameplay, graphics, commentary, and more, while also confirming a set release date.

EA confirmed that FIFA 23 officially comes out on September 30, with the Ultimate Edition launching three days early on September 27. The reveal trailer of FIFA 23 mostly consisted of players showing off their impressive dribbling skills. It puts a big emphasis on the upgraded HyperMotion2 technology and the quality of animations. The video also featured an updated free-kick UI before confirming a World Cup mode that will coincide with the FIFA World Cup tournament scheduled to take place later this year. An EA tweet mentions that FIFA 23 will include both men’s and women’s FIFA World Cups.

The video heavily focuses on the most popular players from the biggest clubs in the world including Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea. However, the cover stars and players from their respective clubs were more prominently featured than others. EA had previously unveiled FIFA 23’s cover athletes, confirming that PSG’s Kylian Mbappe and Chelsea’s Sam Kerr will be the cover stars for the Ultimate Edition of FIFA 23. Kerr becomes the first female player to be on the global cover of a FIFA game, while Mbappe makes his third consecutive appearance as the cover star.

FIFA 23 marks the end of EA’s partnership with FIFA after 30 years. The next soccer game by EA will be called EA Sports FC, although the publisher has clarified that the game will largely remain the same. EA had earlier mentioned that all the game modes, clubs, and players from the FIFA games will be a part of EA Sports FC. The game will come with Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Pro Clubs, and Volta modes, so it looks like nothing will change on the consumer end. Regardless, it’s a massive shift that opens the door for FIFA to partner up with other developers.

FIFA 23 launches on September 30 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The Ultimate Edition launches on September 27.
