Given its status as the most popular league in the world, it's easy to see why so many players opt to build a Premier League team in FIFA 23's Ultimate Team game mode. Unfortunately, this drives up the value of the league's best players, making it much harder for newcomers to build a competitive EPL team without going over budget. Thankfully, however, there are still a few great EPL bargains to be had.

The best Premier League builds in FIFA 23 focus on quality rather than quantity, ensuring that key areas of the pitch are occupied by players with the right attributes. As they earn more coins, players will be able to upgrade where needed, ensuring that they'll always have a competitive team at their disposal. With a healthy mix of pace and passing prowess, these teams should be perfect for most FIFA playstyles.

Updated January 21, 2023, by Tom Bowen: It's been a rather unusual season thus far, both due to the winter World Cup in Qatar and Arsenal's surprising success out on the field. At the halfway point of the campaign, the Gunners are sitting pretty at the top of the table, with only the two Manchester clubs looking even remotely capable of catching them. Despite Arsenal's table-topping performances though, most of the best Premier League players in FUT 23 can be found in the chasing pack. This is reflected by the season's BPL promotional cards too, the majority of which have been handed out to non-Arsenal players. This means that those looking to build the very best Premier League team in FIFA 23 are going to have to turn their attention north of London, with Liverpool and City players making up most of the season's dream team so far.

All of the teams below have full chemistry in-game, though as FIFA 23 doesn't allow players to alter the positions of concept cards, the images below may not reflect this. Players might need to use consumable items to change certain players' positions, while the prices provided are all subject to change. All three squad suggestions will use the 4-3-3 formation as this is one of the more popular formations in the FUT game mode.

For whatever reason, finding pacey EPL forwards at reasonable prices is surprisingly easy in this year's FUT. Daniel James is one of the fastest players in FIFA 23, yet he can be snapped up for an incredibly reasonable 700 coins. At 700, Newcastle man Alexander Isak also represents excellent value for money, especially considering his real-world value. Maxwel Cornet can do a decent job on the opposite wing to James, but players may want to convert him to a fullback instead.

Unfortunately, players are somewhat limited when it comes to finding pacey defenders, with very few speedy center backs plying their trade in the Premier League. Those that do command ridiculously high prices, forcing players to settle for the likes of Ben Godfrey and Moussa Niakhaté, both of who have around 80 pace. Jordan Pickford is a great buy, however, with the England shot-stopper one of several 82-rated keepers available for around 1,000 coins.

Rather than trying to improve all eleven starting berths all at once, players should instead look to add quality in key parts of the pitch. The most important is arguably the number nine position, for which there are a few solid options that all cost around the same price. Karry Kane provides a high overall rating but poor pace, while new Liverpool signing Darwin Nunes has the opposite problem. Thankfully, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang offers the best of both worlds, with 87 pace, strong finishing, and a solid 85 overall.

With what little coins are left over, players can continue to bolster the spine of their team. In central midfield, Arsenal playmaker Martin Odegaard's 88-rated second in-form card is a steal at around 30,000 coins, while Liverpool center back Ibrahima Konaté offers a noticeable improvement over Niakhaté. More importantly, both players are good enough for high-end teams, making them decent investments for future EPL FUT builds.

Sadly, due to the popularity of EPL teams in FUT, all but a few of the best Premier League players in FIFA 23 will be far too expensive for most players. However, that's not to say that free-to-play players can't still put together a solid Premier League team in FUT 23 with a little bit of grinding and a few savvy purchases. In that regard, Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah, and Erling Haaland are well worth a look, with the trio completely transforming the team's frontline for a rather modest 93,000 coins.

At the back, Liverpool duo Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold provide an additional attacking option from the flanks, while United and France center back Raphaël Varane makes a solid partner for his countryman Konate. There's very little to choose from between David De Gea and Hugo Lloris in terms of ability or price, so players can go with whichever top-tier shot-stopper they like best. Rounding out the midfield are Jorginho and İlkay Gundogan, who should help players to control the ball a little better and bring the team's overall rating up to a healthy 85.

As far as Out of Position cards go, the one belonging to Reece James is one of the most useful. It's 88-rated, has 85+ in all key stats bar defense, and can be picked up for a little over 60,000 coins. On the opposite flank, Jack Glealish's World Cup Path to Glory card is a more than solid option at 88k, with high Pace, Dribbling, and Passing stats and an above-average shooting stat. In the center, Harry Kane's 90-rated in-form card seems like a bargain at just 54,000 coins, though it is worth remembering that Erling Haaland's base card can be picked up for around half that amount. Mohamed Salah also offers a more than decent alternative to Reece James, with his base card coming in at around the same price as James' best promo card.

The Winter Wildcards series provided some of the best Premier League players in FUT 23, including Andrew Robertson, N'Golo Kanté, Kevin De Bruyne, and Jack Butland. It's worth noting that the latter is tied with Alisson's base card when it comes to overall rating, but just edges out the Brazilian shot-stopper where it matters most. Elsewhere on the pitch, World Cup and FUT Centurians cards make up all but one of the other selections, the exception being Erling Haaland's Ones to Watch card. Though there are one or two more highly-rated Premier League strikers in FUT 23, Haaland arguably has the best stat distribution, and his Ones to Watch card still has plenty of room for growth.

FIFA 23 is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
