FIFA 23's World Cup Mode DLC has just dropped, following in the footsteps of 2014's FIFA World Cup Mode, this year's edition has all the clubs competing in real life's upcoming Qatar 2022 World Cup in one game mode.

The update lets FIFA 23 gamers play in a live World Cup mode, to play along with the real tournament life. Fans can also play through a tournament mode at their leisure, locally and online, and also customize the tournament to include teams that have not qualified (as long as the team is already in the game). This means that some players are missing out altogether on the game mode, including some really big hitters.

10 Luis Diaz

Liverpool's winger Luis Diaz misses out on the game mode due to his nation Colombia not qualifying for the tournament and the South American nation isn't on the regular version of FIFA 23.

Along with 84-rated Diaz, some other big names from Colombia won't be available. These include legendary striker Radamel Falcao, Bergamo Calcio's Luis Muriel, and quality right back Juan Cuadrado. All three have very overpowered cards on Ultimate Team.

9 Edin Džeko

Throughout the versions of FIFA, Edin Džeko has always been one of the best strikers in the game, now playing for Inter Milan in Serie A. The forward has an 84 rating and is one of the higher-rated players in his league.

His nation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has never been on the game of FIFA and just like all the teams on this list they have not earned a place in Qatar. Bosnia has had some great players over the years like Miralem Pjanić and Asmir Begović, so those players will also be absent from this latest update.

8 Wilfred Ndidi

A very usable midfielder in the game, Leicester City's Nigerian midfielder is another player that won't feature in the World Cup update.

Nigeria is a fan-favorite team, with its iconic kits and cult hero players. It is a shame that they won't be available in this latest update. Along with 84-rated Ndidi, overpowered striker Victor Osimhen and Villareal's rapid winger Samuel Chukwueze also don't make the cut.

7 Hakan Çalhanoğlu

The free-kick specialist, Hakan Çalhanoğlu misses out on a spot in the update as Turkey is also absent from the game. His 85 free kicks will be a sorry miss in the World Cup.

He is the highest-rated player for Turkey with 84, but they have some other good players in FIFA 23: Marseille's Cengiz Ünder and Borussia Dortmund's Salih Özcan are two unfortunate absentees.

6 Stefan Savic

Montenegro is a nation with not many good players. A small European country, they have no real chance to qualify for the World Cup, and it is no surprise that they haven't. This means that cult hero striker Stevan Jovetić will not have a 'World Cup flashback' card in the Ultimate Team side of the update.

Atletico Madrid's Stefan Savic is the exception to this, 84 rated he is one of the best defenders in the game and a great player for a La Liga Ultimate Team side.

5 Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Another big miss for the update, Chelsea will have a lot of players available in the World Cup Mode but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang won't be one of them.

The 85-rated striker is a big player in Ultimate Team and regularly finds the net with his 84 shooting, but because he plays for the small FIFA nation of Gabon there is no chance for his inclusion in the DLC. This is a real shame, but there are other great forwards in the game mode that players can use instead.

4 Milan Škriniar

Another player who will be a colossal miss in the DLC is another Inter Milan player, Milan Škriniar is a fantastic defender, especially in the popular game mode Ultimate Team. The 86-rated centre back's meta-lengthy control style is a nuisance for opposition strikers.

He plays for Slovakia, who don't have a good side and have no hope to make it to the World Cup and being included on FIFA, so it is a big loss for gamers wanting to play the World Cup update.

3 Riyad Mahrez

Manchester City's Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez misses out on the update, again due to his nation missing out on the World Cup and being absent from the main version of FIFA 23.

The 86-rated Premier League star is one of the most used wingers in the game due to his cheap price, sometimes it's not worth splashing out for high-rated players. However, Mahrez won't be available in the update and fans will have to find different wingers to use in the game mode.

2 Jan Oblak

Arguably the best goalkeeper in the game, another Atletico Madrid player misses out. Jan Oblak plays for Slovenia internationally and despite having an amazing shot-stopper they did not make the World Cup finals in Qatar.

At 89 rated Oblak is a massive miss, and other than Brazil's Alisson and Ederson there won't be any top keepers available in the game mode. Slovenia's absence means fellow goalkeeper 84-rated Samir Handanović doesn't make it to the DLC.

1 Mohamed Salah

The best player to not feature in the World Cup update, Mohamed Salah of Liverpool is 90 rated and one of the best players in the Premier League and also the full game. Rapid and with a great finish, his absence is a massive loss to the game.

Egypt was on FIFA for many years but has been removed for FIFA 23 which was a massive loss but now even more so for this World Cup update. Of course, Egypt failed to qualify for the tournament and so Salah would have been missing from the mode regardless.

FIFA 23 is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
