The world is currently celebrating a weekend of incredible soccer performances. Both the COPA American and UEFA European Championship are coming to a close, and the CONCACAF Gold Cup is just beginning. It's the perfect time for Electronic Arts to unveil FIFA 22, which is exactly what it has done. Sunday morning EA shared the official reveal trailer for FIFA 22, confirming the soccer game's planned release for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S starting October 1.

FIFA 22's official reveal trailer focuses on one of the upcoming soccer game's key marketing pushes, what EA has branded as HyperMotion technology. Hypermotion is said to combine "Advanced 11v11 Match Capture" with machine learning to provide FIFA 22 players with realistic movement and action on the pitch. The trailer implies what this could look like in-game using simulated game engine footage, but doesn't feature actual gameplay. This Hypermotion technology is exclusive to the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Stadia versions of FIFA 22.

Other features highlighted in the FIFA 22 announcement, though not in the reveal trailer, include the return of Career Mode, VOLTA FOOTBALL, Pro Clubs, and FIFA Ultimate Team. As for new features, EA has rebuilt FIFA 22's goalkeeper system, added a new Create a Club system for Career Mode, has changed VOLTA FOOTBALL's gameplay, and has added FIFA Ultimate Team Heroes, which are items representing cult players and other fan favorites.

With FIFA 22's official announcement, pre-orders for the game have also gone live. As with many cross-gen games, there's a price difference between current-gen and next-gen versions of the game. PC, PS4, and Xbox One Standard Edition versions cost $59.99 while PS5 and Xbox Series X/S Standard Editions will cost $69.99. Additionally, there's a FIFA 22 Ultimate Edition for $99.99 for either PS4+PS5 or Xbox One+Xbox Series X/S with extra bonuses. The PC Ultimate Edition costs $79.99.

The soccer player that will be featured on FIFA 22's covers was revealed earlier this week. The player chosen for this year's iteration of FIFA is Kylian Mbappé. Different covers will be featured on all versions of the game, but Mbappé will be the cover player for each of them.

Expect to hear more about FIFA 22, HyperMotion, and all of the soccer game's new and returning features in the weeks and months to come. No date has been provided for the official reveal of FIFA 22's gameplay yet, but last year's game debuted its gameplay during early August. Since FIFA 22 is launching around the same time FIFA 21 did last year, it wouldn't be surprising for their reveals to be scheduled similarly.

FIFA 22 releases October 1 on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
