We’ve seen them endorsed by celebrities, models, team captains, and managers — a kit reveal is a special occasion. Sponsors are called, parties attended, and players walk onstage to a flurry of flashing cameras and excited murmurs. This year, Manchester City is doing things a little differently, celebrating their kit launch to coincide with a virtual video from FIFA 12, so fans of the game can see the kit in action before the season begins.

The Premier League club, who finished third in the 2010-2011 season, have seriously stepped up in their bid for status over the last few years. With expensive signings, managerial switches, and a new source of funding, it’s likely that “the blues” will be top contenders for more than just the domestic trophy in the upcoming months.

There’s no doubt that kits look gorgeous within FIFA 12, and this is no different. Dynamic kits were a new feature in last year’s FIFA, and look to carry over into the next generation as kits get dirty, react to sweat, and blow in the breeze. This year, EA Sports is all about subtle adjustments and AI changes rather than visible improvements, but that doesn’t mean things aren’t looking good anyhow.

Let’s take a look at the Virtual Kit Launch, showing off some of the finer details of the kit getting action on the pitch:

While the game is looking as it usually does, many fans are wondering what this year’s version of the longstanding series has to offer. Feel free to check out our hands-on impressions from E3 to get an idea of how the game has progressed, and guess for yourself if FIFA Producer David Rutter is a man of his word.

The video unsurprisingly states that the kit will be exclusive to¬† FIFA 12, continuing the FIFA brand’s longstanding domination over image and ownership rights.¬†Whether you’re a City fan or not, the new home kit is looking pretty good and contrasts, as it should, with their red-and-black historical away kit which bounces around every few years.

What do you think about the FIFA 12 Manchester City kit reveal? Are you going to don it when the game comes out?

FIFA 12 will release on September 27th in North America, and September 30th in Europe.
