So, maybe January wasn't as high profile of a month as last year. That's fine. February will more than make up for it. With the PlayStation Vita launching later in the month, as well as many anticipated triple-A games, there should be plenty to appease gamers of all types. Here, we'll detail what we plan to play throughout February.

And if you're still not knee deep in finishing some of the great titles from 2012, then join in and let us know what games you'll be playing!

Robert Keyes:

I'm still questing away in the northern-most province of Tamriel but there is a lot to look forward to this month. With Batman: Arkham City and Saints Row: The Third finally completed, I'm looking forward to Syndicate and SSX. I'm also considering picking up Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition since I missed out on the fighter last year. Outside of that, I still need to finish the last two Assassin's Creed titles before I fall too far behind. I'm also still on the fence on whether or not I'll be purchasing a Vita - I want it, but I'm not sure I have the time to enjoy it.

Ben Kendrick:

After a busy month of post-holiday catch-up as well as enjoying the full Portal 2 co-op campaign with a friend who is a little behind on the video game release schedule, I'm finally able to... do more catch-up. Much like in January, for the majority of this month I'll be continuing to quest in Skyrim - that is until one of my favorite game franchises returns with a second (well, version 1.5 type sequel) installment. The original (and notoriously underplayed) Alan Wake is still one of my favorite games of this generation - and I can't wait to journey back into the night for Alan Wake's American Nightmare. That said, in between Alan Wake and Skyrim play sessions, I'll one again be testing my virtual mettle on the SSX slopes. I spent a lot of hours perfecting my runs in SSX: Tricky and am eager, and hopeful, that the SSX reboot will deliver the same challenge and highflying fun.

Jeff Schille:

SSX, SSX, SSX! Alright, just had to get that out of the way.

Yes, SSX is hands-down my most anticipated game of February, but holy cow! There are a ton of games hitting this month. I'd like to spend some time with Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, though I suspect I'll still be too busy with Final Fantasy XIII-2 to bother. Meanwhile, Rhythm Heaven Fever is just the kind of quirky distraction I love -- plus, at only $29.99, it's cheap! Post Uncharted 3, it would be fascinating to revisit Naughty Dog's earlier work in The Jak and Daxter HD Collection, even though I only ever really enjoyed the first of those games.

Finally, this is the month PlayStation Vita lands in North America. Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Lumines: Electronic Symphony are both calling to me, but it's WipEout 2048 that will likely sell me on the system.

Andrew Dyce:

Star Wars: The Old Republic is at the top of my list (and will continue to be for some time) but now that I've finally taken the plunge into picking up a legitimate gaming PC, there's a good chance I'll try my hand at Battlefield 3 and Crysis 2 to see what all the graphical buzz was about. SSX will absolutely be seeing some of my time after the science behind the game left me stunned, and the impending release of the Mass Effect 3 demo means putting off all that Mass Effect 2 DLC just won't do. Shepard, here I come!

Riley Little:

February is kind of the post-holiday aftershock. A ton of great games are all scheduled to hit gamers where it hurts this month, and I honestly do not have much time to play them. I'll probably be playing Soul Calibur V throughout February, with a little Saints Row: The Third sprinkled in. As for new games though, I'll have one last chance to try out the PS Vita at a launch event later this month, and I'll decide then if it's something I'm willing to part with $250 for. Uncharted: Golden Abyss is looking pretty damn sexy though.

Other than that, I'll have my eyes on Resident Evil: Revelations and Metal Gears Solid: Snake Eater 3D, as they grace 3DS owners with their arrival this month. The UFC Undisputed 3 demo also blew me away, so I'm contemplating grabbing that bad boy too. I'm still undecided on whether or not I'll purchase them, so initial review scores are going to have to sustain me in the meantime.

Anthony Taormina:

February, while a month filled with love, will also be a month I hate, mostly because it will end with 249 less dollars left in my bank account. But in place of that $249 I will be receiving a shiny new PS Vita, a handheld I have been dying to get my hands on since back at E3 2011. So, of course my gaming time in February, albeit late February, will be dominated by Vita titles like Uncharted: Golden Abyss, but the title I'm most looking forward to is Virtua Tennis 4 for its clever use of touch and its addictive nature.

On the non-Vita side of things I'm looking forward to experiencing Resident Evil: Revelations in earnest, after the great demo hooked me in. Aside from that I'm also looking forward to checking out the first DLC for Iron Brigade/Trenched, Rise of the Martian Bear, as well as Alan Wake's American Nightmare, both downloadable follow-ups to games I enjoyed

Dwayne Holder:

There's a lot of talk of the PS Vita and while it's a impressive device, gamers should know that this is the time to capitalize on previous generation titles they may have missed. You can find quality titles super cheap. I was able to acquire Tatics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together for PSP for under $10. This title is highly recommended for fans Final Fantasy Tactics since it's from the same developers.

As for more current titles, I'm looking forward to Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and SSX. I've been in the market for a new 3DS title, and after checking out the Resident Evil: Revelations demo, I think that might be it. Though I'm more of a Metal Gear fan than a RE one, so I may end up getting Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D instead.

  • Resident Evil: Revelations
  • Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
  • SSX

Anthony Mole:

February is a month I'm really looking forward to, as my most anticipated game for the year (now that Metro: Last Light is delayed), Binary Domain releases in latter half of the month. In addition, I've also got a PlayStation Vita First Edition Bundle on pre-order, which means I'll be playing both that and the pack in game Little Deviants, though I also plan to pick up WipEout 2048 at launch. Lastly, alongside the aforementioned Binary Domain I'm also going to be purchasing HyperDimension Neptunia Mk.2, though I probably won't get around to playing it until I finish the first game, which is going to take up the first half of February. I also really want to play Alan Wake's American Nightmare, but with my 360 currently out of commission I'm going to have wait until I get a new console.

Oh, and I can't forget the free Simpsons Arcade Game PlayStation Plus subscribers get!

Curt Hutson:

It's hard to remember a time when so many great games were flooding the market after the holidays. Capcom is rolling out some cool hits, continuing the Resident Evil franchise with Resident Evil: Revelations on the 3DS and topping it off with the wacky and out of control Asura's Wrath. It's just insane and Japanese enough to grab my attention. Jak and Daxter will make their return to the PlayStation in glorious HD and I couldn't be more elated to play through one of my favorite trilogies again. Yes, it was a trilogy. The spin-offs don't count.

Soul Calibur V and NeverDead will fill in any gaps I might have between Uncharted: Golden Abyss, which will be ruling my life for most of February. The PS Vita is just generally going to keep my hands full... literally... with awesome. After sampling the smorgasbord of delicious games releasing for the system and the killer line-up of launch titles, I'm sold -- I'm more than sold, I am its slave. All hail the Vita.

Brian Sipple:

If I told you about a first person shooter that was the sequel to a well-received first outing, five years in the making, developed by the studio that co-developed the Unreal Tournament games, and featured a Mafioso protagonist who wielded a highly carnivorous dark power… you’d at least Google it right? So go ahead and check out The Darkness II.

Aside from that, Kingdom’s of Amalur’s trash talking has me wanting to play the game for a brand new reason. I’ve got a fighting thirst that I want to quench with Soul Calibur V and UFC Unleashed 3, and I still haven’t given up on Syndicate tossing together a solid FPS experience. I’m gonna go ahead and toss in Skyrim too because let’s face it, I don’t know if I’ll finish that monster by this time next year.

Finally, Vita-mania really has me on the fence of buying the handheld this month, but if there are three words that will push me over, they’re Uncharted: Golden Abyss.

PlayStation Vita Game Rants Most Anticipated

Yes, the PlayStation Vita isn't a game, but it's probably one of the most anticipated handhelds of all time. With it, Sony plans to take portable gaming a step further; dual analog sticks, front and rear touch pads, and a beautiful OLED screen make the Vita a gamer's dream. With the promise of always on connectivity and console quality games on the go, the Vita has earned the immense hype surrounding it.
