The F.E.A.R. series is a bit of an unusual franchse. When it started out, it was combining The Matrix with weird paranormal ambiance and it worked relatively well. When Project Origin came out, Warner Bros. Interactive started fleshing out the game's story and introduced many new story twists, while still retaining the creepy, weird paranormal stuff.
Now, with F.E.A.R. 3, WB Games and Day 1 Studios will be adding even more to the series, including the ability to play as one-time antagonist, Paxton Fettel, who just happens to be the Point Man's brother. See? What did I tell you about story twists?
Paxton Fettel offers a different variety of gameplay than his brother. Fettel is a powerful psychic and has very little need for a gun and chooses to blow them up with his mind instead. If it gets the job done, who can blame him? Blowing people up with your mind is fun, but there are moments when even the most powerful psychic might need a gun and Fettel is capable of possessing enemy troops to use their weapons.
Take a look at the gameplay in action:
It's good to see variety of gameplay in F.E.A.R. 3, and with the ability to play the title in co-op, players can take turns having fun shooting things to death or destroying them with their mind. We at Game Rant are always in favor of true co-operative play.
F.E.A.R. 3 has seen its share of delays, and while the various trailers that have been released for it are filled with content, the final word can only be decided when the game comes out and people can finally get their hands on it. If anything, F.E.A.R. 3 will promise an incredibly unsettling and creepy experience (but can it beat Dead Space?) and gunfights with everyone's favorite: bullet time.
F.E.A.R. 3 will be releasing some time in May 2011 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
