The release date for F.E.A.R 3 may have been pushed back to May, but Warner Bros. and Day 1 Studios still plan to tease us with the collector's edition of the title. The collector's edition comes with an in-game handgun called the "Hammer," steel case packaging, a F.E.A.R 3 comic book by DC Comics and finally, a cool (and by cool I mean freaky) pregnant Alma figure with a glow in the dark fetus.

From the looks of it, by choosing the collector's edition you will still be able to receive most of the games pre-oder bonuses, except The Shredder weapon offered by Best Buy.

Check out the short clip showing off the naked Alma figurine with glow in the dark fetus.

All in all, these offerings seem pretty average once compared to collector's editions of some other major games. I would much rather have the life-size Plasma Cutter from Dead Space 2, or the plethora of offerings bundled with Stracraft 2's collector edition.  Most of the appeal in this collector's edition is taken away because two out of the three items are given away as pre-order bonuses.

Many collector's editions are often seen as a simple money-grab, second only to paid DLC. Selling small trinkets with the game in no way makes the game itself a better experience and the added cost usually outweighs the added value.

It might be a wiser choice to purchase the regular version of FEAR 3 and spend the extra cash on DLC for the game that will likely come in the not too distance future. I can only see this "special" edition appealing only to hardcore fans of the franchise, otherwise it will most likely become extra unneeded clutter to take up space. Try explaining why there's a nude female doll with a glowing fetus on your shelf to the ladies.
