Following allegations made on social media by Twitch streamer Ashtronova, FaZe Clan has indefinitely suspended Mew and will perform a thorough investigation. The popular esports team made the announcement on November 21 on Twitter, and will gather more information and determine whether further action needs to be taken.Mew, known by his real name Kenny Nguyen, joined the FaZe Clan in September 2018 and is best known for his Call of Duty and Fortnite streams on Twitch. She explains her trip to Texas to participate in a subathon, a Twitch event held by streamers to encourage more subscriptions to their channel. During the event, Ashtronova expressed how grateful she was to both Mew and the FaZe Clan for welcoming her and assisting with the major event. Following her participation at the content creation home, herself, Mew and a group of streamers spent the night celebrating at a club, where things ultimately took a turn for the worst.

As the night unfolded, Ashtronova recounts becoming heavily intoxicated while Mew appeared to be sober and aiding her with getting outside for some fresh air. At this point, Ashtronova alleges Mew expressed feelings for her and forced a kiss onto her without receiving consent. In a TwitLonger post made by the streamer, she expresses regret for spending the night with Mew, believing to have had sexual activities with him despite having no recollection of what transpired.

The FaZe Clan has made the news in the past number of years for several missteps in their conduct, from being sued by former member Tfue for allegedly preventing him from making deals, to signing an underage gamer and disregarding existing labor laws. Following the announcement of the suspension, Mew made his own statement, expressing his intention to take legal action against the allegations he faces.

It's an unfortunate step back for FaZe Clan and its members after getting off to a tremendous year. After signing Snoop Dogg to become a member of its board of directors, it followed it up with bringing WWE's Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon onto the team, opening up the door to potential collaborations with World Wrestling Entertainment. Meanwhile, Ashtronova continues to share her story, posting several message exchanges between herself and Mew as receipts to give substance to her allegations.
