Earlier this year, Fate/stay night fans across the world were looking forward to April's theatrical release of Heaven's Feel 3. Spring Song which would conclude the final story of the original 2004 visual novel. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 crisis delayed Pokemon, other anime releases, and even Spring Song past its intended premiere date. However, a recent update brought news that the final Heaven's Feel movie will begin its limited release on August 15th in Japan.

As Fate's third route, which laid the groundwork for other entries like Fate/Grand OrderHeaven's Feel digs into the origins and truth about the Fuyuki Holy Grail Wars. The heroine and love interest in this route is Sakura Matou, Shirou Emiya's close friend who is perhaps the most tied to the dark events of the past. In stark contrast to other 2 routes, Heaven's Feel never received an anime or movie until the film trilogy began in 2017 and the upcoming release will conclude 16 years of storytelling.

Prior to the start of Spring Song, Sakura ended up as the conduit for the Holy Grail before going on a rampage and ultimately turning into a darker version of herself controlling corrupted servants like Saber Alter. Now it's up to Shirou to save her and ultimately bring the 5th Holy Grail War to an end. If Spring Song's Japanese premiere isn't pushed further back again, global distribution starting in the United States should follow in the next few months according to Aniplex's original plans.

Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel 3. Spring Song releases in Japan on August 15th with a worldwide release estimated 1-2 months later.
