Love is in the air and the start of February means the Valentine's celebration has begun in Fate/Grand Order. This will be the third year that North America has run the event, compared to when Japan experienced the original years ago. For two weeks, masters can participate in the festivities with their servants and earn some unique prizes along the way.

Keeping with tradition, a large part of Valentine's in Fate/Grand Order revolves around being able to get chocolate from or give it to various servants. By exchanging currency earned, masters can unlock special cutscenes where they will receive handmade chocolate or other gifts from servants. This year also brings a new component with a point system, counted in chocolate, for rewards.

Manufacturing Chocolate Rewards

The Valentine's event allows players to earn items from a reward ladder that caps at 60 million by hitting manufactured chocolate goals. Rewards include EXP cards and ascension materials to strengthen servants as well as currencies to unlock Valentine's cutscenes and rewards. These thresholds can be reached by acquiring chocolate from defeated enemies on event quests. The number of chocolate drops can be increased by building additional facilities from the event menu. These facilities require flavor boosts, another item that can be looted during quests. Note that there are four Sweet Days craft essence cards in the shop which improve flavor boost drops by plus two, or plus three if max limit is broken. Players will need 11960 boosts to bring the chocolate multiplier to its maximum value.

Clearing the Shop

Like many top mobile gamesFate/Grand Order events usually have shops with items that can be bought using different currency: Coo Coo Cacao, Mystic Milk, and Fancy Sugar in this case. Players looking to fully clear the shop will need 3100 Coo Coo Cacao, 2900 Mystic Milk, and 4100 Fancy Sugar drops.  The following quests will be the best places to farm their respective currencies.

  1. Chocolate Manufacturing: Full Time - White, Fancy Sugar
  2. Chocolate Manufacturing: Full Time - Gray, Mystic Milk
  3. Chocolate Manufacturing: Full Time - Black, Coo Coo Cacao

The number of drops can be further improved using craft essences from the Fate/Grand Order gacha.

  1. Witches' Kitchen, +1 (+2 if MLB) Fancy Sugar
  2. First Valentine, +1 (+2 if MLB) Mystic Milk
  3. Pharaoh Xocolatl, +1 (+2 if MLB) Coo Coo Cacao

Unlocking the Final Quest

Unlike other events, there is no time-lock on the main quest for Valentines. Access is instead restricted by having to build all facilities and manufacture 15 million chocolate. Once finished, players can confront the final boss who rewards a holy grail and the epilogue once defeated.

Although Valentine's might seem lacking to some players, it's a welcome break from the back-to-back lotteries for the past two months. Once this event is over, it will be non-stop action until the release of Part 2 of the main story in April which helped cement Fate/Grand Order as the most talked about game on Twitter last year.

Fate/Grand Order is available now on iOS and Android.
