With game publishers and developers now well aware of the stigma associated with movie tie-in games, many franchises have made the jump from console to mobile in the hopes of grabbing a more casual crowd. So, even tough gamers might not think that every blockbuster franchise is deserving, most films have some form of tie-in game.

Case in point: the Fast and Furious franchise, which has found some surprising success on mobile platforms, despite struggling on consoles. As a result, developer Kabam has announced another Fast and Furious mobile game is on the horizon, this one to coincide with Universal's Fast and Furious 7.

Although Kabam did not announce a release date for Fast and Furious 7: The Game, it's safe to presume it will hit mobile platforms alongside the release of the feature film on July 11, 2014. This sequel will catch up with Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, and the gang as they face-off with one the franchise's fiercest villains yet. We don't want to spoil who that is, but those who stuck through the Fast and Furious 6 credits know.

Fast and Furious 7: The Game will, of course, be a follow-up to Kabam's Fast and Furious 6: The Game, which hit about 17 Million players within its first month of release. Grand total, the game amassed about 33 Million players since launching on iOS and Google Play in May of this year.

Universal Partnerships & Licensing President, Stephanie Sperber, had this to say about partnering with Kabam again:

“We are thrilled with the success of Fast & Furious 6: The Game. Kabam has done an incredible job developing an immersive experience that truly resonates with the fans of the franchise. We’re delighted to be working with Kabam again, and anticipate yet another hit game that will endure for many years to come.”

With Fast and Furious now cementing itself as one of the biggest film franchises around, there's no question that a console game is likely in development for this seventh entry as well. However, considering the Fast and Furious 6 game - Fast and Furious: Showdown - was poorly received by critics and gamers alike, and barely playable, it might be best to focus all efforts on this mobile game.

Did you play the Fast and Furious 6: The Game mobile game? What did you think of it? Are you interested in a sequel?

Fast and Furious 7: The Game will likely be out in July 2014 for iOS and Android devices.
