Last year, dataminers sifted through the files of the Pokemon Gold and Silver Space World trade show demo, and discovered a number of unused Pokemon designs in the process. One of these included an evolved form of Farfetch'd that never actually made it into the games, but according to a leak, the upcoming Pokemon Sword and Shield will in fact include a Farfetch'd evolution. Is it possible that the new Farfetch'd evolution rumored for Pokemon Sword and Shield is the same one from the Pokemon Gold and Silver Space World demo?

The Pokemon Gold and Silver Space World demo of the Farfetch'd evolution shows a swan or goose-like Pokemon called Madame. Farfetch'd would have evolved into Madame upon reaching level 24. Madame could have been male or female despite having a feminine name (and it's possible its English name would have been different anyway), and it would have been a dual normal/flying-type Pokemon.

The Farfetch'd evolution rumored for Pokemon Sword and Shield is called Sirfetch'd. Nothing else is really known about Sirfetch'd beyond its name, and some have speculated that it may actually be a Galarian version of Farfetch'd as opposed to an evolution. Sirfetch'd hasn't been officially revealed, but its existence was outed by a leaker who accurately leaked other information about Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Unfortunately for those who like the design of the previously planned Farfetch'd evolution, it seems unlikely that Madame will be in Pokemon Sword and Shield. A more likely scenario is Sirfetch'd will have brand a new design that leans into the medieval Europe themes that Pokemon Sword and Shield are embracing. We've speculated before that Sirfetch'd may even play on the "Onion Knight" title given to characters in things like Final Fantasy and Game of Thrones, with Farfetch'd becoming more knight-like in the evolution.

The leaker who leaked Sirfetch'd has been proven correct about other Pokemon Sword and Shield details, including things that would be hard to just guess like Gigantamaxing. There's enough corroborating evidence to safely say that the leaker has legitimate information about Pokemon Sword and Shield, so now we just need to wait for Nintendo and Game Freak to give Sirfetch'd a proper introduction.

Pokemon Sword and Shield launch on November 15, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
