Given the story of Far Cry New Dawn takes place 17 years after the events of Far Cry 5, it doesn't come as a surprise that Boomer, the trusty canine companion players get to team up with in the first game, is no longer alive. While Far Cry New Dawn doesn't directly mention Boomer during the main story, players curious enough can find a somber, somewhat tragic Easter egg revealing his fate in the time between both stories.

In order to discover the fate of what many consider to be the best companion characters in Far Cry 5, players will need to go searching into the depths of The FANG Centre, which is located in the southwestern region of the map, just north of the home base, Prosperity. The FANG Centre, which is a church, has a tunnel located behind it which leads underground.

Once the player reaches the back of the tunnel, they will find a large coffin with a giant piece of concrete covering it. By throwing an explosive weapon near the coffin, the concrete covering it will crumble, and reveal the name "Boomer" etched in its side, sealing his fate once and for all.

While uncovering the fate of Boomer is sad, players luckily have a few new wildlife companions, commonly called "Fangs for Hire" to help take on Far Cry New Dawn's new enemy faction, The Highwaymen. Those two companions come by way of Timber, a new canine scout companion filling the void for Boomer, and Horatio, an aggressively oversized boar. They aren't the only companions players can partner up with either, as there are even more new guns for hire available to team up with in the direct sequel to Far Cry 5.
