There's no doubt that plenty of gamers are anxiously awaiting the celebration of all things gaming with The Game Awards 2018, as the annual event is set to go live tomorrow on Thursday, December 6, 2018. The show's creator, Geoff Keighley, has already promised that there will be 10 new games revealed during the ceremony, and it looks as if Ubisoft is primed to be among the companies pulling back the curtain on a new product, as the publisher and developer recently hinted at a premiere for something related to Far Cry during TGA 2018.

As seen in the video below, Ubisoft seems to be teasing a Far Cry project with a post-apocalyptic theme, as the footage indicates that its story will take place long after the events in FC5, with an idyllic prairie landscape being obliterated by a nuclear bomb. The ruin gives way to Mother Nature's regeneration of the environment with flourishing grasslands, flowers, and trees, but mankind still seems to have destruction on its mind, with the clip ending in the creation of what appears to be a buzz saw crossbow.

At the moment, there's no telling whether or not this particular product from Ubisoft will be an expansion or continuation of sorts for the first-person shooter franchise's most recent release, Far Cry 5, or if it will be a new game unto itself. With this being the case, we will simply have to wait and see just exactly what the publisher and developer has in store for its fans during The Game Awards 2018's broadcast tomorrow.

All things considered, should Ubisoft be planning to cast the Far Cry series into an unforgiving wasteland with its next entry, then it would an instance of the franchise taking a more speculative fiction approach than some of the other previous installments. What's more is that a new Far Cry game with post-apocalyptic elements has the potential to fill the void left by the rather disappointing Fallout 76.

Ubisoft's announcement for its next Far Cry project will take place at some point during The Game Awards 2018 on December 6, 2018, which starts at 8:30PM EST.
