With Far Cry 6 set to release soon and reviews pouring in, many are likely making the decision now whether they want to plunge into the chaos of Yara or not. Far Cry 6 is currently averaging around the low 80s right now across various platforms, though not without a ton of criticism regarding its lack of innovation. Still, if Far Cry 6 being yet another Far Cry title appeals to players, then they have a few choices in terms of editions to pick up.

Aside from Far Cry 6's Collector’s Edition, there is the base game, the Gold Edition, and the Ultimate Edition. The base game retails at $59.99, the Gold Edition is $99.99, and the Ultimate Edition is $119.99. Given how it is double the price of the base game, many may be curious whether or not that price is worth it.

Far Cry 6 Ultimate Edition Contents and Price

As should be expected, the Far Cry 6 Ultimate Edition has a ton of content outside just the base game. This includes the season pass, which features DLC based on past villains like Vaas, Pagan, and Joseph, as well as the “Classic Edition” of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. This also comes with two cosmetic and small content sets, The Blood Dragon Set and the Ultimate Pack. The latter can be seen above and seems to be rather straightforward, including about 14 in-game items ranging from new vehicles and outfits to weapons and Champagne, a white panther companion.

The former has a ton of Blood Dragon-appropriate content such as a gear set, new weapons, new charms and chibis, and the K-9000 Fang for Hire. Looking at this, Far Cry 6 itself is 60 bucks, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is roughly $15 used (and not sharpened as in the new Classic Edition), and that means the roughly remaining 45 bucks is divided among the other Season Pass content and content packs

Perhaps it’s also best to look at this content in comparison to the Far Cry 6: Gold Edition. This includes everything mentioned above, including Blood Dragon Classic Edition and the Season Pass, but the sole difference is that it does not include the Ultimate Pack. This version of the game retails at 99.99, thus making the Ultimate Pack about 20 bucks. This means that the aforementioned 45 bucks worth of content is divided further, roughly representing 20 bucks for the Ultimate Pack and 25 for the Season Pass.

Far Cry 6: Which Version Should You Get?

Ultimately, it’ll come down to personal preference as these things often do. Someone interested in Far Cry 6, as well as its DLC and Blood Dragon, may be better off purchasing the Gold Edition unless they simply want to experience everything with the Ultimate Pack. It is a decent bit of additional content for $20, which will add to the gameplay experience, but it won’t necessarily redefine it.

Once again, Far Cry 6 reviews suggest the game doesn’t reinvent the wheel and follows the typical Ubisoft open-world formula. This may be enough to give fans some inkling of how invested they’ll be in the game—and that should help inform the decision on which edition to get.

Far Cry 6 releases October 7 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
