Far Cry 6 has been officially announced, stirring up a large amount of excitement. It's been a little over a year since the last installment of Far Cry releasedand since then, fans have been excited to see what the future holds for the series. From what has been shown already, Far Cry 6 intends to return to the series roots while bringing a lot of new ideas to the table.

One new addition being made that was not featured in the previous Far Cry games is a third-person during cutscenes and other in-game events, Game Rant learned in an interview. This will be a nice change of pace given that Far Cry cutscenes traditionally play out from a first-person perspective.

Hopefully, the addition of third-person cutscenes will give the player a greater sense of connection to the playable protagonist. In the previous Far Cry games, the player was unable to actually see the protagonist, except in special circumstances. For example, in Far Cry 3 the player was only ever able to see what Jason looked like a handful of times. Additionally, Far Cry 6 will once again feature a fully voiced playable protagonist, a decision that has fans very excited given the love of previous protagonists preceding Far Cry 6.

This will, hopefully, give the protagonist a greater sense of personality and nuance. While the Far Cry protagonists remain beloved by many, none of them hold a candle to the Far Cry villains. By showing the protagonists off from a third-person perspective, with any luck, it will help to make the protagonist just as memorable as the villain.

Though, there's definitely a reason why so many players hold the Far Cry villains in such high regard. Many of them are extremely memorable and well written, especially Vaas from Far Cry 3, who is considered by many to be one of the greatest video game villains of all time. Thus, it was no surprise that fans of Far Cry 3 got excited when they heard the rumors that Vaas could make an appearance in Far Cry 6. Though, the rumors don't seem to carry any weight, for multiple reasons relating to the game's original stories.

Far Cry 6 is set to launch on February 18, 2021, for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
