Ubisoft's upcoming Far Cry 6 has a lot of fan hype surrounding it. Being the series debut on next-gen consoles (as well as releasing on PS4/Xbox One), Far Cry 6 has a lot of potential. It's been speculated that the game might be a radical departure from the series formula, but nothing official is known to support that sentiment.

However, a recent Far Cry 6 image has surfaced online across multiple Ubisoft social media accounts. The image in question is about a newspaper interview with Anton Castillo, the main antagonist of the game. While many might brush this off as a simple means of Ubisoft building hype for the game, further inspection reveals a lot of interesting information about the game.

Far Cry 6 Image Breakdown: The Article

While Anton Castillo remains the focal point of the image, the surrounding text does reveal a lot of information about the game's setting. The language used in the newspaper is Spanish, which obviously bolsters hints about the game's setting. Far Cry 6's city of Yara is heavily based on real-life Cuba, where Spanish is the official language. "Novembre del 2020" is the date of publication, meaning the game takes place in approximately real-world time, debunking most theories regarding Diego Castillo being a younger Vaas.

The newspaper is titled "La Voz De Yara," which translates to "Yara's voice." The subtitle says, "Periodico Official De Yara," which translates to "Official Newspaper of Yara." The newspaper's name could have implied that the publication might be run by the resistance, but the subtitle very much suggests otherwise. While either theory can't be discarded outright, there's a high possibility that Anton owns the media outlet in question, as he allowed himself to be interviewed for a biased article.

The article's headline "Hambre y agonia en el paraiso" translates to "Hunger and Agony in Paradise." This further bolsters the claim of Anton potentially owning the media outlet, as the article similarly refers to Yara as a paradise, something Anton does often when referencing the country. While issues such as hunger seem to be addressed, the tone of the headline suggests that much doesn't have to do with the tyrant. The main article itself is blurry, which makes it harder to figure out more on the matter.

Another headline of a newspaper in the background does translate to something along the lines of a President radically changing the functioning of the society, which seems to be pointing towards Anton himself. There's another headline off in the distance which seems to be talking about something related to friendship, with "Amigo" clearly being visible. The contents of these articles remain hard to decipher, which further poses the question of whether Yara's media is free or controlled by Anton.

What Do These Hints Mean For Far Cry 6's World?

Esperanza

A lot of what this image offers is mostly insight into the twisted world of Yara, as the public and media have all crumbled under the rule of Anton Castillo. This does provide more weight on the resistance's shoulders, which should indicate a narrative with a serious tone. The newspaper article could carry huge implications on Far Cry 6's gameplay, assuming that the newspaper is regulated by the resistance (or anyone except Anton Castillo).

If this theory is indeed correct, this would suggest that Yara still has active journalists in the area. Dani Rojas being a native could help them with coverage of the happenings, which could lend itself well to a set of side quests. While this is mostly fan speculation, it does seem like an interesting spin on the typical Far Cry formula.

Ultimately, the newspaper article only gives fans more information about the fictional city of Yara, its problems from the perspective of media, as well as the public. This finally paints a picture of a once-glorious city reduced to a crumbling version of its former self under Anton's tyranny, which sets some high expectations for Ubisoft to deliver on the premise. Fans are clamoring to see the game in action at E3, and Far Cry 6 has a great chance of being the main reveal of Ubisoft's E3 showings this year.
