Following the release of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, one of the next major Ubisoft titles to release for next-gen systems is Far Cry 6. Sadly, for the last several weeks, the release date for the game has been up in the air. Although, now it seems that Far Cry 6 has received a new release date.

Despite Far Cry 6's delay due to complications involving COVID-19, fans of the series haven't been deterred from looking forward to the release of the game. As of right now, there has been no official word from Ubisoft confirming when Far Cry 6 will release, or even when the game will officially receive a new release date, however, it appears a new date has leaked via the Microsoft Store.

The Far Cry 6 listing on Microsoft's online Xbox Live store says that Far Cry 6 will release on May 25, 2021. If this listing is to be believed, then there's is still a decently long wait until the game's official release, though it isn't too far off of the February release window that the game originally had, pushing it roughly two months back.

It's important to note that, as Ubisoft has not commented on the new release date of Far Cry 6,  fans should take this information with a grain of salt, as it's possible that the listing is erroneous. Not to mention that this new release date could potentially change, considering that the date shown on the Xbox Live website puts the release date of Far Cry 6 over six months away. Needless to say, a lot can happen in six months.

In any case, it will be interesting to see if there is any truth to the release date shown on the listing. No one knows what 2021 has in store, especially given all of the setbacks that COVID-19 has caused the gaming industry. The pandemic has directly led to the delay of multiple upcoming titles, and it's entirely possible that Far Cry 6 could get delayed again in the six months leading up to the game's presumed release date.

Having said all this, there is still a lot to look forward to in terms of Far Cry 6. The performance on the next-gen consoles should offer an experience that is unlike anything shown in Far Cry's history. Not to mention that, with Giancarlo Esposito playing the antagonist, it should make for a memorable performance and story. Only time will tell if this listing bears any actual truth.

Far Cry 6 is currently in development.
