Last week, Breaking Bad and The Mandalorian star Giancarlo Esposito claimed that he was involved in some "big" video game project, but stopped short of revealing exactly what it was. Then rumors started swirling that Eposito was the villain in Far Cry 6, and now it appears as though those rumors were true. The Hong Kong PlayStation Store has leaked the existence of Far Cry 6, complete with box art, a release date, and confirmation of a next-gen version.

According to the Far Cry 6 leak, the new game will be released on February 18, 2021. Those that purchase the current-gen version of the game can expect a free upgrade for PS5 and Xbox Series X "when available," which could be an indication that the next-gen version will have a different release date. In any case, those that pre-order can get their hands on the special Discos Locos weapon and a skin for Chorizo, though it's unclear who exactly that is at this point in time.

In Far Cry 6, players will take control of Danji Rojas, who is a local Yaran and guerrilla fighter rebelling against Anton's authoritarian regime in Yara. In typical Far Cry fashion, Far Cry 6 players will be able to craft weapons and utilize a variety of vehicles, as well as "befriend Amigos" and get help form the Fangs for Hire faction. Far Cry 6 will reportedly have the largest open world of any Far Cry game to date, with players exploring jungles, beaches, cities, and more.

The Far Cry 6 PlayStation Store leak also confirms that the game will support online multiplayer for up to two players, which is in line with previous games in the series. It stands to reason that the Far Cry 6 online multiplayer/co-op features will likely be very similar to what was seen in Far Cry 4 and 5, so fans should still expect the game to be a primarily single-player experience.

Luckily, Far Cry fans shouldn't have to wait long to get official confirmation of the game. It's highly likely that the upcoming Ubisoft Forward event on July 12 will be where the game is announced, with Ubisoft possibly sharing even more details than what's included in the Far Cry 6 leak. Hopefully the event includes some clarification on when the Far Cry 6 next-gen versions will be available, and if they share the current-gen release date or not.

According to the leak, Far Cry 6 will launch on February 18, 2021 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions in development as well.
