Upcoming open world FPS Far Cry 6 is one of the most highly-anticipated games of the year, boasting an impressive arsenal of weapons, the award-winning Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, and making some significant improvements to the Far Cry formula. The game is a cross-generational title coming to as many platforms as possible, but it seems when Far Cry 6 launches for consoles next month, it will be missing a popular feature that will still be included in the PC release.

In a recent interview with WCCFTech, the Far Cry 6 developers confirmed that ray tracing will be a PC-exclusive feature for the game. According to the developers, the goal with the console version of Far Cry 6 was to optimize its performance, targeting 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. Apparently including ray tracing would've jeopardized that goal, which is unfortunate news for any PS5 or Xbox Series X owners who wanted to see Far Cry 6 use ray tracing.

Even though Far Cry 6 on consoles will not have ray tracing support, that doesn't mean that the game won't be visually impressive. Far Cry 6 gameplay videos so far have looked great, with the game clearly looking like a big step forward for the franchise in terms of visuals. Of course, Far Cry 6 being a cross-gen game means it can't take full advantage of the next-generation hardware anyway, but it should still be one of the year's better-looking games.

Far Cry 6's release date is right around the corner, so Ubisoft has been ramping up its marketing push for thet game. Besides developer interviews, this Far Cry 6 marketing push has included a series of videos recorded by Giancarlo Esposito, who plays Far Cry 6 villain Anton Castillo. The videos have Esposito playing himself while discussing various aspects of the Far Cry 6 game, including its story and some of the weapons that players will be able to utilize.

For instance, one video shows Giancarlo Esposito explain Far Cry 6's flamethrower, one of the many makeshift weapons that players will be able to utilize as they lead the rebellion against Castillo's corrupt government. With it being a Far Cry game and all, fans can expect plenty more weapons for their arsenal as well.

Soon enough, players will be able to explore the Far Cry 6 open world, collecting weapons, killing enemies, and more. They won't be able to do it with ray tracing enabled if they're playing on consoles, but those with powerful enough PCs can still enjoy the feature.

Far Cry 6 launches October 7 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
