Far Cry 6’s newest expansion Lost Between Worlds sees players take control of Dani once more to guide them on a wacky, vibrant journey through a network of distorted interplanetary rifts. Trapped between these alternate dimensions, the player is tasked with collecting five shards to repair an alien vessel and escape the containment.

Reminiscent of Far Cry 3’s Blood Dragon DLC, Far Cry 6's protagonist Dani Rojas will have to take on hordes of sci-fi enemies in a variety of uniquely dangerous environments, with each rift posing its own individual challenge for the player to tackle. Naturally, players will want to know how best to ensure their survival in such a perilous horrorscape.

9 Scavenge Gear To Survive

Dani starts out with nothing at all and must scavenge for weapons, ammo, and gadgets. Thankfully, these are scattered all around the rifts, with weapon crates and spare ammo being found quite easily. Players can acquire a range of firearms from weapon crates, allowing them to take out their enemies with assault rifles, shotguns, submachine guns, snipers, and even a machete.

Each time a player collects a shard, they’ll lose their entire inventory of weapons, ammo, and gadgets. This makes scavenging critical from the start of the game to the end, as players must always be on the lookout for new gear.

8 Switch Ammunition For Different Enemies

Far Cry 6: Lost Between Worlds Shooting Red Shardfaces

Lost Between Worlds features one main type of enemy, the Shardface: a crystallized humanoid defense system that comes in either a dark red or neon blue variety. These vibrant adversaries have several variations in typical Far Cry fashion, including melee Chargers, standard Assaulters, and tanky Heavy Gunners.

The real kicker is that much like in the classic Dreamcast bullet hell shooter Ikaruga, blue Shardfaces only take damage from blue bullets, and red Shardfaces can only be hurt with red bullets. Players will have to switch ammunition types, often in the midst of a firefight, to eliminate their enemies.

7 Collect Glint For Checkpoints

Far Cry 6: Lost Between Worlds Collecting Glint

Glint is Lost Between Worlds’ currency, which can be found and collected all over the rifts, with its distinctive purple sparkle. Glint is mainly used to restore a player back to life if they die in a rift. They can spend the currency to be placed back at the start of the rift instead of being restored all the way back with Fai.

Otherwise, players will have to start their run from the beginning and journey across the entire rift web again, which is highly time-consuming. Collecting enough glint prevents that and allows players to have a few tries at completing some of the more challenging rifts out there.

6 Return Shards To Fai For Unique Tools

Once players have gotten their hands on a shard, they can return it to Fai in return for a unique piece of kit that grants the player some of Fai’s special powers and technology. These tools will help them traverse rifts that they’ve previously visited and are all-around some of the most helpful pieces of kit available.

These unique tools remain accessible to the player even when they collect another shard and lose their entire inventory of guns, ammo, and gadgets, making them the most consistent and useful devices at the player’s disposal in Lost Between Worlds.

5 Use The Grapple Tool To Reach Inaccessible Areas

Far Cry 6: Lost Between Worlds Using The Grapple

The Grapple tool is one of the items given to players for returning a shard to Fai and can be used on the various grapple points located throughout the rifts. Grapple points will often make it easier and faster for players to make their way through rifts, and can even unlock previously inaccessible areas that might have some glint or loot to retrieve.

It works pretty much identically to the Grapple Hook in the base version of the game and can be put to good use in the destabilized, unpredictable nature of Lost Between Worlds’ terrain. It makes traversal a lot more enjoyable too, as one might expect from a video game grappling hook.

4 Use The Fractal Bomb To Open Shortcuts

Another one of Fai’s gifts to the player, the Fractal Bomb is a C4-esque device that can blow holes in certain walls to grant access to new areas and shortcuts. Players simply need to find a section of orange crystal, plant the bomb, back off, and wait until it blasts apart the former barrier.

The Fractal Bomb comes in handy in speeding up a player’s journey through the rifts. It can open up an extra route through the disorienting maze, for example. Players get this tool after returning their first shard to Fai, so they would do well to take advantage of its utility as soon as possible.

3 Use The Rift Key To Open Locked Doors

There are a number of red doors that can be found across the rifts, each one locked until players acquire the Rift Key. The Rift Key is another tool that is given to the player after returning a shard to Fai and is used to unlock these doors, which usually leads to extra loot for the player to collect.

Players should make sure to keep an eye out for these distinctive doors to avoid missing out on potentially helpful gear to aid them in their journey. Lost Between Worlds can be quite tricky at times, so players should make the most of every tool at their disposal.

2 Plot A Route Through The Rifts

At the end of every rift, players will come across an orange portal and a purple portal. Each portal takes them to a new rift, creating a network of different paths that they can take to get to the final shard rifts.

With multiple possible paths available to get to each rift and access to a map that outlines the various directions they could go, players should choose the most beneficial route for them. This way they can avoid more difficult and dangerous rifts in favor of traversing quicker and safer paths to their final destination.

1 Adapt To The Environment

Far Cry 6: Lost Between Worlds Swimming Through A Rift

With a total of 15 different rifts to explore, players will face unique challenges in each one. One rift sees players forced to run between cover to avoid deadly lightning strikes, whereas another has players managing their oxygen levels while swimming through a submerged city

Lost Between Worlds’ rifts are dynamic and unreliable, and players need to adapt to new environments quickly in order to ensure the best chance of survival. They'll start to get their bearings after a while, but to begin with, they'll need to be able to adapt if they want to survive.

Far Cry 6 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
