Ubisoft recently confirmed that it has five triple-A games that will launch between April 2020 and March 2021. Ubisoft confirmed that three of the games are Watch Dogs LegionGods and Monsters, and Rainbow Six Quarantine, but stopped short of confirming the other two games beyond stating that they were a part of its "biggest franchises." While Ubisoft didn't spill the beans on these games, it seems that they are the long-rumored new Assassin's Creed game as well as Far Cry 6.

This report comes from Jason Schreier of Kotaku. Schreier is known to be one of the most reliable sources in the video game industry, so his claim holds a lot more weight than most. Schreier didn't elaborate on the new Far Cry, but just said that it's one of the games Ubisoft plans to launch between now and March 2021.

If Schreier is accurate, then this means that fans can likely look forward to Far Cry 6 being announced at E3 2020 during Ubisoft's press conference. It also means that the new Assassin's Creed game will likely be unveiled by then as well, though that's been expected for quite some time.

It should be noted that this isn't the first time that we've heard of a new Far Cry game being in development. Prior to this, there were rumors of a multiplayer-centric Far Cry game that was supposedly in development at Ubisoft Berlin. It's possible that Schreier is referring to that game if he's not talking about Far Cry 6.

As far as Far Cry 6 goes, other sources have reported that it is being developed by two different Ubisoft studios. Apparently, Far Cry 6 is in the works at Ubisoft Toronto and Ubisoft Refelctions, though this has yet to be confirmed. There's nothing official on Far Cry 6 in any capacity, so fans should take any information about the game with a grain of salt until Ubisoft decides to announce it.

When Far Cry 6 is announced, it will be interesting to see what form it will take. The Far Cry franchise has always stuck closely to Ubisoft's open world formula, but the company has expressed interest in moving away from with its future releases. It's possible that there wasn't time to switch things up for Far Cry 6, but that's just speculation at this time. Fans will have to wait for an official reveal to learn more about the game.

Far Cry 6 is rumored to be in development for unspecified platforms.
