Games like Far Cry 6 aren't known for their player choice. This is strictly an action-adventure game and the RPG elements are solidly secondary. There are no romance options or even hints of romance options. As with other games in the series, the deaths of almost every hero and villain are set in stone.

Almost is the keyword here. There is a bit of a surprising moment at the tail end of Far Cry 6's Legends/La Moral questline. Tensions are stoked against McKay after he attempts to murder Dani and succeeds in murdering some of his friends. But Juan Cortez tries to strike a deal instead of exacting revenge. What's the right answer here?

Updated on December 9th, 2021 by Hodey Johns: The choice and its results have not changed. Players that let McKay live or kill him need not be afraid of any patch or update that complicated or removed this decision. But, that being said, this game with few character choices makes players think hard about the limited options they do have, especially this one. It's likely that this decision will be the most discussed among the community unless an expansion or a piece of DLC expands upon it. This guide has been updated with more specifics about what happens in both of the player options.

  • Reward: 5,000 Pesos
  • Dani's friends are disappointed

McKay is true to his word and sends a monster amount of pesos to the cause. Dani, specifically, gets 5,000 pesos to spend on upgrades and at the store. It might feel like the good guy thing to do, helping the cause, letting revenge take a backseat, and making lots of pesos in the process.

However, it's clear that this demoralizes the revolutionaries. Most people in the region feel the need to let Dani know that they feel he sold out and betrayed them. And not one time either; they stew about it even after beating the game. While 5,000 pesos might feel nice, by the end of the game, pesos are not an important currency.

Far Cry 6 Aiming To Shoot McKay In The Head
  • Reward: Canadians, Eh? Bracelet
  • The revolutionaries are grateful to Dani

If it feels like letting 5,000 pesos go is too high of a price, don't necessarily let that dissuade Dani from making the right choice. Killing McKay yields a few lines of extra dialogue as he dies and the guerillas reward Dani with the Canadians, Eh? bracelet. This item can only be won via the mission and can't be bought even with the largest haul of Moneda imaginable.

Far Cry 6 Looking At McKay's Body

The bracelet gives Dani pesos for every enemy killed with poison, which, with the right weapons, is capable of making up the 5,000 pesos forfeited by the decision. This is a unique item and killing McKay is the only way to obtain it. Pesos can be replenished, this is a one-time shot at this bracelet.

Far Cry 6 Dani Being Thanked By Revolutionaries For Killing McKay

Most importantly, revolutionaries are inspired and thank Dani for putting the cause above the cash for the rest of the game. For players that like to be liked among their comrades, this is the only choice to make. Unlike the revolutionaries, Juan does not address the decision regardless of which choice the player makes.

Far Cry 6 was released on October 7, 2021, and is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
