Taking on multiple enemy vehicles at once in Far Cry 6 can be a deadly experience, especially if going up against a tank. It's tough to down the formidable, high-armored vehicle, even when targeting its weak spot with powerful weapons.

Instead of fighting them head-on, players can hijack tanks in Far Cry 6 instead. Not only will it make encountering one less stressful, but doing it for the first time will unlock the "Not So Tough" Trophy/Achievement.

Updated on December 16th, 2021 by Hodey Johns: It's much easier to hijack a tank than it is to destroy one. Even the most powerful explosives take several hits to bring down a tank while stealing a tank needs only one shot/blast to neutralize the threat and turn it against its former friends. The original article had all of that information and readers were grateful for the information. To help with readability, this article has been broken down into multiple sections, one detailing the equipment players need, another talking about how to execute the process, and a final entry that shows players where a guaranteed tank can be hijacked.

Acquire An EMP Device

Far Cry 6 Equipping A Volta With An EMP Grenade For Two EMP Sources

To hijack a tank in Far Cry 6 players must obtain a piece of equipment with EMP capabilities. An EMP device is needed to trigger the hijack prompt in order to get inside one. Some equipment that can be used includes:

  • The Volta Supremo.
  • The Zeusito weapon.
  • Remote EMP Charge.

The Volta is one of the Supremos in Far Cry 6 and can be purchased from any of Juan's Arms Dealers after reaching Rank 3. The Zeusito can also be obtained from Juan, but players must be at least Rank 7 to buy it. Both pieces of equipment cost 100 Depleted Uranium.

The Remote EMP Charge is a Gadget Mod that can be attached to another Supremo. It costs three Supremo Bonds and five Industrial Composites to craft, and can be attached to a Supremo from a Workbench. Once players have an EMP-enabled device, it's time to find a tank.

How To Bring Down A Tank

Far Cry 6 Position To Make The Hijack Command Pop Up

Upon finding an occupied tank, it's time to disable it by using an EMP ability. Always be sure to shoot the gunner first, otherwise the prompt to hijack the tank won't pop up. The EMP blast will deactivate the vehicle for a short time, and while it isn't moving, players should jump on top of it and look down at the hatch.

The angle here matters a great deal, if players are on the wrong side of the tank or the hatch, the command will not prompt. Press R3 on consoles and F on PC to hijack the tank. After a short animation, Dani will gain control. The tanks do lots of damage and killing in the vehicle gives lots of experience points toward achieving the highest level in the game.

Where To Find a Tank

Far Cry 6 Location Where A Tank Is Guaranteed To Be

If players can't spot a tank on the roads, they can go to the mud track south of the Oasis Plains marker, in the north Madrugada region. The tank is easily spotted by listening out for its loud engine, and looking at the dirt road for a dust trail. There are many missions in Far Cry 6, but Madruga is specifically available after completing the "Libertad Rises" mission.

Successfully hijacking a tank for the first time will unlock the "Not So Tough" Trophy/Achievement. Players can continue to use this method throughout the rest of the game to quickly take down a tank without having to rely on specific weapons.

Far Cry 6 was released on October 7th, 2021, and is available on PC, PlayStation4, PlayStation5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
